Getting very hard to ignore. Will we see him in against the crows?
We might play Hampson instead, but I think we need to think about playing McBean now so he's up to the pace in case we need him in finals

Currently leading the VFL goal kicking on 35 after another bag of 5 today, love this kid

So far this year:
1.1 3.2 3.1 5.2 1.2 1.0 1.1 0.1 4.1 2.1 5.1 4.3 5.0

He's getting close
I mentioned at the start of this year that Liam would kick 50-60 goals in the VFL

Also was a massive wrap for the kid as a junior and still am, Was always going to be a 4-5 year project and is coming along nicely
Watch him rip it up in 2017 when he is 22/23 and 100kgs. 202cm and long arms as well as being good below his knees

This doesn't include the game just gone which would increase his average goals to 2.69.

So even fewer marks (both contested and uncontested) than previous years? :(
Up in practically all other areas...It's just that I would have thought marking would be a big focus.

Less time for marks when you're rucking and his service hasn't been great this year

I agree but I think he went through a bit of down period, dare i say maybe even a petulant period, in first half of the season where he thought he was too good for VFL. But like I've said in a few other threads the last 3 weeks its a different McBean playing right now. Its a guy who wants to take over a match

I would have thought playing around the ground in the ruck would give him more marks (especially uncontested ones) from being involved in more open/running play....Although I suppose he could be having trouble learning how to read the play/get to the right positions.

More time rotating, more handball receives, all adds up
I'm surprised how much his contested marking is down because his ability to take them has improved IMO
I think he's just getting more space on his opponent for some of those

IMO his competitiveness in marking contests is through the roof. He's probably getting less marks on the lead though, as the midfield delivery has been woeful. He's also spent time giving others the No. 1 forward role this year, which wouldn't help.

Awesome. Well done Sir McBean.

Fine result. Coming on very well. reckon they must have plans for him in 2016. Few more kegs and experience. Got to play AFL now really.

Its the last time i am going to ever say it. We have blundered in development again. This kid should always have been developed as a kpd.
Why are we so blind to a players obvious strengths and why do we expect weaknesses to miraculously improve.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read on BigFooty

So you think a guy who has the ability to score goals out of literally nothing, and is over 200cms tall with a decent set shot, should have been played in the backline?

I think it's fair to say we have all become significantly dumber from reading this suggestion.

No. Seems to me this kid has been handled beautifully. Will have a hunger to establish himself in the ones next year having been given a taste and then starved of opportunity this season. Can't wait to see him with another preseason put into him.

What to do with our key forward stocks?

IMO McBean MUST get games for development next year. Don't really want to trade Griff either, but can't see them all fitting in.

Are you a member of Essendon's match committee?

It the * in *Jake Carlisle, like the * in "Essendon 2012*" and "Jobe Watson, Brownlow Medalist*"
I'm all for self self deprecating.
But come on Jobe deserved it that year and there's no evidence to say he cheated.
But I really hope Liam McBean can get some game time, gonna be hard though with the depth of Richmond.
