Why not ask the question at the officials page maybe you might get a response as to the reason? ps i can't ask i'm still band from that thread lol
Because that's not what that thread is for and exactly why you're blocked :P

RFC_Official it would be great if the club could let us know what is happening with the Bean, I know you cant say much, but a little article on his pre season wouldnt hurt. Most hyped player since Relton and yet we havent heard a thing :(

Posted on March 1 in the Pre-Season thread:

Both are training, played in the intra, and have been named in squads for NAB Challenge - that's where it's at.

Plus this week we are open Thursday at 9.30am and Sunday at 9am if people would like to come down for a look.

Thanks rfc official, but he didn't play in either nab game did he?

Seems odd if he isn't injured

RFC Officials quote "have been named in squads for NAB Challenge - that's where it's at" Says a fair bit re how far down the pecking order Mcbean is - he's been available for selection but has been overlooked. While a rookie tall forward has played every game.

Thats my point though, as fans I reckon we deserve an explanation.

Clubs are reluctant to make negative comments re players particularly during the preseason. I doubt they'd come out and say Mcbean has been left out of NAB due to others taking his spot. You do however hear about the Chol's etc.. that are playing.
I have no real issue with it to be honest, but I get your point.

Hard to understand really. Was only given two games last year yet continues to be one of the VFLs biggest goal scorers. What's wrong here? I can only imagine that he isn't adhering to some team rule or the defensive aspect of his game. Even when he was given a game against Essendon he sacrificed his own goal scoring because he followed his instructions to stick like glue to Fletcher for the game.

I really think this kid should be given more opportunities because if he leaves I'm certain he is the type of player that will smash it in another team. I have a conspiracy theory that he wasn't given a game because Dimma doesn't want him to succeed and give him a same sort of selection headaches he had with him last year. Surely McBean could have had a least one game rather than Chol having all three. Strange.

Obviously our tall forward stocks have terrific depth but players need opportunities to prove themselves. Give McBean a chance Dimma!!!

You might be right about Dimma not rating Mcbean, coaches do get their favorites. Maybe he thinks there's not room for him and Vickery in the team and wants to explore other combinations.
I'd like to see him get his opportunity. i'm not totally convinced that he has all the tools required to play KPF at AFL level, but we'll never know if he isn't given the opportunity.

Im with Morro wish we could get an explanation on beany. Especially given our (supporters) lack of faith/belief that griff chol or chaplin are the answer.

My money is on he will be off to freo or someone desperately looking for a kpf with the gurantee of afl game time. Has more runs on the board for his vfl performances than any other kpf we have. Why isnt he getting a game or even a chance?

Will probably end up at Hawthorn. They like him

I think it just comes down to structures, Bean is versatile, but he's not exactly quick, not like Chol who has the height, leap, speed and the versatility on the ground.

Bean isn't strong enough yet to play ruck, nor is he strong enough to play deep forward when Riewoldt roams out of the F50.

The club knows where he's at, they've been watching his good progression under our VFL team and would have a very clear view of where he's at.

Chol being the new rookie I think they just wanted to see what he had to offer before the real stuff started, they can identify his weaknesses under the AFL system and will send him to the 2s for him to work on those deficiencies.

I think it comes down to a set of rules Hardwick has for his players. Basically you don't play unless you meet his requirements, except if there is an injury or you are an exceptional talent.

McBean is a good goal scorer but lacks any real dominant trait that would see him walk into the team. I think he is failing at defensive pressure and work ethic and that is why he is being overlooked. I reckon Chol on the other hand came in and did exactly what the coach asked of him, hence the 3 nab games.

The positive for McBean is that he is only 21(22 by end of year) and it will only take him 7 years kicking 200 goals a year to break pluggers record.
