PS. In those 6 quarters of AFL footy Beanie played his part in kick starting our season in the 8 goal second term against Collingwood in rd 7.

Got dropped, came back in rd 9, had 9 possessions in a half against Fletcher (in what turned out to be his last game) including three contested ball wins against him. Fletcher beat him in contested ball once, the rest were halved.

Got dropped the week after and Eltoned ever since.
Thanks Liam.:thumbsu:

Edit: in those 2 games he amassed the grand totals of 28 and 34 SC points. Wow! I wonder how you could ever drop a guy that starred like that!

He played very very well against Collingwood. He created a lot of goalscoring opportunities just by making a contest, and demonstrated slick hands on one or two occasions too. He was unlucky not to kick a few.

He's no superstar yet and he probably isn't Best 22, but he - by far - is not the worst player we have.

I agree. However anyone who bothers to watch him at VFL can see that he really needs to improve the defensive side to his game. He just won't get picked until he does that.

I never really watch him play. SO my question is, to those who watch him, If he does not have the attributes now will he ever make it as a senior player on rfc's list?

I'd like him to be played for a few games because he has unique attributes. He should get a go when one of our tall forwards gets injured. But at this stage even Mabior chases harder and that's an indictment on Liam.

So Mabior from day 1 has the defensive traits..Liam from day 1 has not had them and in 3 years has not developed them. Is it time for a change of scenery for Liam? A Change of clubs might be good for Beany.

Still so much myth making on Liam.

Fact: 116 goals in 45 VFL games.

Fact: takes more contested marks than Griffiths at the level.

Fact: makes more tackles than Griff at the level.

Fact: Kicks many many many more goals than Griff at the level.

There is no valid excuse playing Griff before Beanie as third tall in the firsts.

The 'chase' unicorn floated by RFC fanbois notwithstanding,

Liam's real problem is that he asks too many questions.

Like why is the 204 cm bloke chasing the 180 cm outlet runner rather than making space for a goal scoring opportunity.

and Why do RFC kick for touch when you have a 204 cm target in space.

Or Why are we playing with 5 forwards when you said at the break we would play with 6.

Yes, I agree. Seriously, he can't even get a game in our side when both Vickery and Griffiths are out in a preseason game. We need to try something new in the forward line, and I am keen on seeing McBean get regular games over Griffiths.

If his defensive side of the game is the reason why he isn't picked, then Richmond pay too much attention to forwards' defensive attributes.

The guy can kick goals. Are Richmond not excited at the thought of potentially seeing this guy translate his VFL goal kicking ability to the AFL? This club isn't Hawthorn or Adelaide, who have a potent forward line. We need to experiment to increase goals IMO

Must be a reason why he was ignored for all 3 nab cup games.
Other than those injured everyone else got at least 1 run in it.
I think he could offer more than Griff but at this stage with our ruck situation,He's the odd man out.

No nab time at all was very strange indeed.

Or maybe he doesn't position properly.
Maybe he doesn't follow team structures.
Maybe he's been given very clear instructions on what he needs to do get more AFL games and it hasn't happened.
Alternatively, the coaches are deliberately punishing themselves and the team by not playing a better player because........

Happens every year. Some poster gets tumescent for a fringe player. Last couple of years it was how Madonna was gonna make Dimma look foolish when he finally got his chance. Adelaide were gonna pinch him. And where is he now?

Back on the Bean, I wonder who the other Frosty Miller is and where they are playing?

Bring back Dan the Man!!

Sam Grimley was delisted after back to back wins and is on the Drugs list. lisle was a hack at Hawks and Lions. Frosty Miller medals mean jack atm. Teams dont care (unless he kicks 80 in a full season), they would rather them play the team role so when they are in the seniors they play to the team plan.

If Bean isnt doing that, he wont play. Plus he only kicked 42 - big whoop

I guess he's 3rd in line for a tall fwd spot. Unless both ty and griff are out we won't see much of McBean

Tough discussion with Chappy to not have him play any nab.
'Chappy, we think you're vital to our success...but not down back...dave has gone ahead of you...and no..not up forward...chol and bean are ahead of you there. We've got a role for you but we need to know...are you allergic to oranges?'
Chappy may be slow of foot but surely he's not so slow of mind that he hasn't figured out he's basically done?

He's also only 21 while Grimley is 25

...other than Griff can be used as a ruck option, which allows us to keep TV in the forward line which allows us to kick a winning score. Other than that I guess I see your point.

Add to the point, despite all of Griff's criticisms, he was the most influential big man last Thursday with some delightful field kicking that set up 3 of our goals.....

Given that Chaplin has been played forward this season he may be even further behind than that. Mabior was even preferred before him in NAB games.
