He's behind Lennon and I doubt they both come in.
Lennon for Griffiths looks a no brainer.
Dimma likes to have the three tall fowards with one rotating through the ruck. If Lennon replaces Griff we'll be quite short upfront when Hampson is off and Vickery is in the ruck that leaves Jack as our only tall forward up top.

Yeah this Maric thing is keeping Griff in the side I agree.
Probably costing Lennon games also.
Then there is Deledio to come back so I honestly don't see Mcbean even close at the moment, because I don't really see Mcbean playing as a"tall" in the true sense.

That last line is a very good call mate, his problem is that he doesn't play as a true tall but we're not going to have a 202cm forward pocket. If he's going to make it he has to be able to play tall. He doesn't need to be a pure ruckman but third tall/second ruck is where any AFL club would use a player of his size.

I know they've got different styled and has a crazy sized tank but I think Mark Blicavs is a good example of a tall who isn't pure ruck and likes to get involved around the ground but he still chips in with his ten hit outs a game and plucks a few big contested grabs.

Yeah wouldn't that be nice!!
Hard to know how Mcbean fits in really.

That's if Deledio makes it back. Injury a lot worse than being said.

So McBean for griff? I mean he is a 200 + cm footballer. If he's more mobile than ty then that helps, if he can ruck a bit it helps but we need scoreboard pressure and we know Griff provides none of that.

I feel the crows are going to smash us regardless of griff or bean being selected. May as well see if McBean can play at the top level and if not trade him at years end

We have seen what Griff can do - or more importantly can't do - time to give McBean an opportunity. If come the end of the season and McBean has gone through a fourth season and has 2-3 games alongside his name, that's disastrous recruiting from our view point. Time to give him a go.

Yeah I didn't mean this week.
Eventually though.
Well I bloody hope eventually!
Otherwise I'm shutting up shop.

I think its now at the point where we play him over griff who just isnt having any impact. So it cant be much worse. I doubt he will get a crack however as he hasnt played many games.

Can everyone please STFU about mc bean and his lack of playing. He is clearly the reason to his lack of afl time not the selection committee. And if no one seems to think griff is going that well and yet mc bean still doesn't replace him. Well that's a glaring statement as to where he is at. Build a bridge people. It's not 2015 anymore! A lot of players don't actually go from strength to strength over there whole careers, year in year out.

It is indeed a concern that how long? like 4 years down the track and we are still talking about this supposed gun KPF and why he aint playing 1s.
Now there can be only 2 possibilities, oops, sorry 3.
1. The dude is a dud about to happen and we dont want to show up another f**ed up recruiting f**k up.
2. The coaching panel and selection committee are f***ing idiots, because the moment they select him we will become premiership favs and he the coleman fav.
and 3. Its all part of the tiger show and they are holding him back because we want to unleash him on the comp around R12 when we need to win our next 12 games to make the 8 ;)

Or he's 21 and behind 3 key talls in the pecking order :p

That said, a player isn't going to get better by playing in the 2's. All the gun talls became guns because they played at the level

My issue is that so many teams are pushing offensive gameplans. If you outscore your opponent it doesn't matter how many they kick on you

Will probably be traded out or delisted at seasons end.I know one thing at least one of him or Griffiths needs to go and we go out and get a proper key fwd.

Riewoldt - A grade player if you kick 50 - 60 goals every year you are an A grader.Plus Jack has rounded his game out pretty well.

Vickery - 200cm Vickery polarises people. Is he a ruckman ? is he a kpf? To some he is a good player to others he is poor.If need be imo we could upgrade on him with out too much difficulty because i dont think he gives enough in either role.

Griffiths - Another 200cm player who in a word, Failure. Same problem as Vickery but worse. He is not good enough in either role. Vickery saves his arse by kicking a few goals.Cmon how hard would it be to upgrade this bloke.

The above three players together make our fwd line slow and cumbersome. The contribution from two of them is negliable. Playing three tall fwds is the way to go just not those three together.

McBean - can not get a game because of glaring weaknesses in his game. I have stated on this thread the only thing that may save McBean is if we try him as a Kpd taking many of those weaknesses out of his game. I keep hearing he is supposed to become a ruckman, have we even tried him there in the vfl on any sort of consistent basis. So much for developing him in the role they envision for him.

McKenzie - He currently is not an option. A second year kpf taken very late in the nd. Who knows if he will make it or not. Atm the odds are probably against.

Chol - another ruck/fwd. Probably in the same boat that McBean was / is with size.Cannot play him in the ruck atm and cant play him as a kpp.He could possibly make a very good kpd.He is a rookie pick he should be looked upon as a long shot.

We have tall fwd numbers in name only. The reality is only the top three are currently real options. If we lose a key forward to serious injury we want to pray it is not Jack because atm he is the only high quality tall fwd we have. That after 10 years of FJ's recruiting is not good enough.

It just seems to me we are too cute with recruiting. We want a ruckman so we take skinny kids who could maybe play fwd as well. We need a kpf and we take kids who can maybe ruck as well.

Sorry for the f**k up, yes you are quite right...he either needs to wait until he has played 250 games in the 2s and his 28th birthday or Griff, Hampson or Ty need to play shit for him to even be considered. I feel sorry for him seeing as the 3 key talls ahead of him are making history with their total and utter domination of their respective positions. ;)

Well this is from the past 3 years:

Note: I think I'm missing some info due to where I got the data from but wanted to post it for now to add to the convo

Hard to make a case for him being in front of Riewoldt or Vickery at all
Griffiths, the match committee should be considering it

Has McBean ever rucked in the seconds? I agree with others on here that think he doesn't play tall. He is not a good mark and I don't see him as a ruckman. So if he can't play tall and is not a ruckman, what makes people think he can play tha role at AFL level?

He is developing...no one can argue he's not. However, he is not a forward / ruck. He is a forward. And still very much a developing forward.

IMO he is a backup to Vickery and not Griffiths. And Vickery is miles ahead of him so not an option unless Vickery is dropped or injured.
