Nope i rate him because he's kicked a tonne of goals over last 4 years in a bloody ordinary reserves team whereas Vickery and Griffiths have been gifted games repeatedly. Vickery especially. Anyone who thinks well he hasn't kicked many this year is because mcdonaugh Thomas and Arnott are gone and our reserves are even worse than people realise.
Let me guess?
McDonough and Arnott were 'shafted' too?

Mcbean probably just isnt afl quality. Chol already looks way more advanced and has more afl traits
Potentially and I do understand the idea of giving him a block of games to see how he goes. I think when it is a maths impossibility to make the 8 we would go down this line and see. However with the fast paced AFL, I just don't think he will make it with his athleticism.

Because that's not the Richmond way. You either get gifted games from the start, or you never get them.

that is true, not sure any youngster has left punt rd in recent years and proved everyone wrong ...perhaps make a list in dimmas time. we ve made some **** ups no doubt and im not a fan of our style of play but don't know that we ve stuffed up too much on pulling the wrong lever on young players

That's called diabolical development.
Regardless of what some people think you don't make your way onto an AFL list by accident.
If you are axed four years later with two games to your credit and not even looked at by another club, it's pure poor development.

Should Drop Vickery when VFL Richmond plays next and both he and McBean can go head to head in the I cant be stuffed cup

Loser gets taken out the back and shot

You've omitted one key fact , can also be attributed to the player failing to cut it. Jono o rourke is 12 months from being delisted , why don't hawthorn play him ea week and will it point to their poor development. Happens everywhere , hawthorn had grimley and lowden on their list for yonks, WB had acye cordy for years , were their failures ALL due to poor development ?

McBean had a chance to stamp himself today, and he blew it.
I wouldn't be surprised if he is #eco this year. He played well at many stages during his time at Richmond and only got 2 non-consecutive senior games for his efforts, and there is a point whereby you just don't care anymore. These players worked to get drafted so that they can play AFL, not VFL. He didn't even get a preseason game at AFL level this year, whereby the club opted to go for recently-drafted rookie Chol and Chaplin up forward over McBean when Griffiths and Vickery missed.

I think he will part ways with Richmond and I am confident another club will pick him up if that happens. Carlton were interested in him last year in my recollection

There is no ifs or buts McBean is as good as gone. It has been widely acknowledged that he asked his manager at least a month ago to put his name forward to other clubs..

What i dont get in all this is why some supporters are so happy to tolerate Vickery,s form which has been abysmal for weeks on end.
Weather McBean comes into the team or not Vickery should be dropped. iF THAT IS FOR A TALL OR A SMALL WHO CARES!!!! SURELY WE CAN NOT TOLERATE IN THE ONES WHAT THIS PEA HEART IS DISHING UP EVERY WEEK.

Calm down.... no need for yelling. If McBean has asked for out then don't play him.... in fact don't play him at VFL level either....

Agree re Vickery though.... No idea who for though... It would have to be a small unless we upgrade C.Moore (which I would be a fan of doing).

Was pretty good today....
Agreed. It is only the second time this year though where i have seen him perform to a decent afl standard.

Today has to become a minimum type day for him i dont think that will happen. Was very concerned at one stage he started well then drifted out of the game for awhile credit to him he worked his way back into it.

LOL Was not yelling just got lazy is all. My apologies.

If he has put his hand up for a trade request then he isn't going to do himself any favors dishing up games like he did today. His attack on the ball consisted of sticking an arm out or trying to take marks on the lead with the minimum amount of contact possible. There were a couple of special things he did that set up goals but overall a game that would be lucky to get him rookie listed at another club.

Unfortunately for us the fans, this leads to the Vickery conundrum, plays like crap but with Hardwicks desire to play a 3 tall forward set up there isn't much choice but to stick with Vickery as there isn't any other tall forward option apart from Bambi to come in at the present time.

Agree, I think if TV wasn't around he'd work to more contests.... at times today we had TV, Griff and JR all inside 50.... they can't help but jump all over each other when it's like that...

Although I think Griff was ok in another game other than the Swans game as well....

Seems to me McBean is playing like a bloke who thinks he wont get a game for starters and definately wants out. Imo all the blame does not lie with Liam.

In recent years there are precedents for players dropping right away who have wanted out of clubs.Yarran and Garlett spring straight to mind.

I actually think it sad that the club could not find a way to give him a go in the seniors especially when the other two have been so poor and so inconsistent.
I would prefer we actively look at possible replacements for Vickery and Griffiths. No better time to look when both are badly out of form. Which lets face it has been most of the time Liam has been there.
I strongly believe some areas of the list in such a bad way that we do need to experiement and throw young players in just for the experience and see what they can offer. Our list is not that strong that we can afford not to do this.I would go as far as giving all three of Moore, Chol and McBean games. But it seems the club is content with those who they regularly play.
Yep Different perspectives and differing evaluations of where we are at.

Ross Smith stated this arvo that a key back and key forward are our priorities this year .
I asked him why Elton and McBean had only played 4 games between them and he stated that Elton is injured at the moment and Mcbean is playing like a small forward but he did say he took 4 contested marks a few weeks back .He said they want a big forward who can take a contested mark or bring the ball to ground .He then left without taking anymore questions ,didn't get to ask about Vickery unfortunately .
Oh and he did say with a straight face ,that the reason we haven't won early season games is that we're not a good dry weather team .
We have not hope if this idiot is our TEAM Defensive Coach .

Or poor recruiting... plenty of blokes make AFL lists but don't make the grade.... after 4 years as especially

I would say in most cases if a player has been around for 4 years he would play at least 10 20 games if fit. Surely you understand the need to look at what players can offer through the stages of development.
McBean and Elton have both been totally ignored when there has been real opportunity to have a look at where they are at at the level.
Does it not concern you that after 4 seasons no one really knows what these blokes have to offer at the level after 4 yrs. Cmon it is crazy.

Lol , cheers for the insight bloke
