people expect players to at least show something. Not necessarily win their position, but show there is something there

Mcbean did not do that last night, and just because he's a board fav he shouldn't be immune to criticism. Broad copped it rightly for his first two games, but the mcbean fan bois were silent on demands he be dropped

And I'm not even saying he should be dropped. You're cracking the sands because I simply didn't rate his game. What a joke
Call him a campaigner. He's not a mod anymore. :p

he was attrocious, but no worse than what Vickery has been dishing up.
happy for him to get a good run at it and take it from there, but I still don't hold out much hope.
Oh god if he gets the Vickery treatment then we only have another 70 games of this till we can move on from him and onto Chol. :D

I'd honestly play neither one if we wanted to win. Since we don't we might as well keep playing him and wee what glimpses he shows.

If Lids was free to play HF (with no decent HBF's I understand why hes down there), or Lennon was good to go I'd 100% agree

We desperately need a second forward.

No, I'm cracking the shits because morons make ridiculously critical comments that serve no purpose. If they said it about Broad then they're just as stupid.

I don't expect you to rate his game, I just said calling it poor was a disservice to him. It wasn't a great game, I know it wasn't, you know it wasn't, but there is room in between. If you didn't see anything that looked good then you should go watch the replay with your eyes open because he did some really nice things that showed me he has something to offer. If you want to sit there and heap negatives then be my guest but let me know now so I can throw you on ignore.

I wonder if some posters played footy long enough to play in different quality leagues and divisions. If you had you'd know that the intensity and speed in going up can take a real adjustment, not to mention the doubts you have until you prove yourself. Going from VFL to AFL and playing in front of 40,000+ screaming fans, cameras, etc must be a circus and I can't imagine how that ****s with your head.

Judging McBean on the basis of one game is ridiculous. I've no idea if he'll make it, but he deserves a decent shot before we start throwing rocks.

Interesting that some other guys who have played and then been dropped have come back and looked a heap better and more composed. Allir Allir from Sydney is one who looked off the speed when he first got a game but looked solid (moreso) on Friday night having had a crack at it.... Castagna looked well out of his depth earlier in the season.... but much better against better opposition last night.

McBean for me is a meh.... he did give as much as TV lately and I don't see him doing a hell of a lot more.... I think there are better options out there to play in our forward line in 2017 and beyond. If I had to pick from TV and McBean I'd say TV is a better player right now and I'd keep McBean on the list ahead of him purely due to the potential value we can get for TV at the trade table/FA compo....

Agree mate. But I don't think anyone has suggested he be dropped this week? Most posters have acknowledged he was quiet last night, but deserves four weeks minimum to see.

I'm just hoping DH gives him a few more runs and doesn't wilt in playing his love child TV
Was probably the only reason why I went along last night and I'm really glad I did.
Saw a great contest, and saw the likes of Castanga, Short and Markov really make an impact.
Menadue keeps hanging in there, Rioli did some nice things although was quiet and mcBean kicked his first AFL goal.
If they revert back to the same old, I'll stop going this year.

I agree it was excellent viewing although I was snuggled on the couch in the warmth

Same here, loved watching that game live - just felt like a different side

Heap negatives on him? I said he was poor. not shit, not putrid, not incompetent, not horrid. Poor

you seem to think anyone saying anything other than "he was good" is extraordinarily negative. Maybe you need some perspective on his game and put aside the McBean coloured glasses?

Must be given a proper go. Was quiet last night and struggled . He did some nice things though and we need to persevere. He was no worse last night than others have been all year.

The one thing that really needs to happen for him to become a good consistent player is someone locking him in a room with a full carcass of beef and some weights and dont let him out until hes eaten it.
To seriously compete at the level either as a kpf or ruckman he needs to gain some serious weight and core strength.

Personally I don't think he is much chop nor will he make it, but I am glad he is getting a run at it now and I'd be rapt for him to prove me wrong.

Glad the Bean is getting an extended run at it, as Lloyd said on the radio last night Vickery has had 100 games to show us what he has to offer.

I'm not a fan of the 3 tall set up in the forwardline and I wonder why we continue to go down that track. Opposition teams set up with an extra defender and rebound it to easily. We need a decent 3rd tall lead up forward who can also contribute at ground level, or 2 talls and a spread of smalls and mediums.
That's quite damning of TV. What did he actually say?

ha since when has that ever been a consideration to posters?

I thought Allir was exceptional...& I liked the way McBean started the game. I thought McBean getting thrown into the ruck early was an ambitious call. He held his own. Seemed to do less rucking as the game went on, but overall, better than Ty. See how he backs it up this week
