If Freo didn't show interest and offer him 5 years we would not have offered a similar contract.
Yeah, sorry, I wasn't really clear with that. Exactly what I was referring to though. If other clubs were chasing him at the time, we still would have signed him for 5 years. All in all it doesn't really matter though, because it's all in the past now.

If there's truth to the idea that he doesn't want to be here, get what we can for him.
I don't really subscribe to that.

If he wanted to go he could have gone previously when Freo threw significant money at him last time. Money that it was reported on here that he found embarassing in the amount overs it was.

There seems to be a bit of panic in this thread, panic that I don't really understand.

If he has been unhappy forever why would he have re-signed previously when there was a significant cash offer on the table? Because trade couldn't be arranged? last year we took pick 25 for the guy who ran third in our BnF if Aaron wanted out he would have gotten it last time.

To allow him out of his contract (which is what we'd need to do) in order to let him leave, would be a sell low situation.

He was injured for much of last year, he's coming back from a shoulder reco and seems to be getting himself into form in the twos.

Unless we use him as part of a package that gets us some legitimate high end midfield talent Hannerbury, Treloar someone of that ilk, we have a conversation that runs something like this:

"Aaron, while we empathise that there is offers for your services, you are currently contracted. For us to release you from your contract it needs to significantly benefit the North Melbourne football club. Right now the trade offers don't do that, therefore you are a required player."

Get him to Werribee. NB is a death trap at the moment. He would be chomping at the bit to impress and get his confidence back up after surgery. Instead, he's playing for a team that offers next to nothing.

Hey guys sorry to intrude on your board. It seems Freo are linked to every KPP that is either out of favour at their club or from WA for the past three years, so until the end of the year and Black actually states that he wants to head home I wouldn't really bother about the idea. If he does come out and state that he does want to leave though I can imagine a deal of Black for Crozier/Sheridan and maybe a third round pick or something like that.

All the best for the rest of the year

Why is NB a 'death trap' at the moment? (seriously)

I've only seen one game - the one on Ch7 last week - and the supply i50 was terrific. Thought Black played well, but didn't take his chances.

The game on the weekend was competitive. You only have to read the reports of previous games to know he got absolutely no service for large parts. NB have been slapped around a bit this year.

I see you North Fans have big cojones. For some reason the Freo board dont want him but I do. What would be a fair trade? Fyfe and Dawson.... ESPCIALLY DAWSON are off the Table. You would have to pry Dawson off my cold dead hands. I am reluctant to hand a 1st round pick. 2nd round pick wont cut it. Freo wont pay over the odds to get him. Freo famously backed off mitch clark back in 2011.
The f*** right off part was a a tounge in cheek comment, not trying to have big cojones. Freo have been hanging around Black like a bad smell for 2 or 3 years even though he was contracted for decent periods of time! 2 trade periods ago we told Freo "thanks but no thanks" and Black signed a 4 year deal shortly after. Now that he has spent 95% of the year in the VFL, that bad smell (Freo) I mentioned earlier has come back. Freo were prepared to hand over their first round pick for an injury prone Mitch Clark (pick 14 or 15 if I remember correctly) but Melbourne pipped you and gave up pick 12 and Clark a massive pay packet. You can keep Dawson, has Dawson even played this year? If Freo wont pay overs, Black stays. North hold all the cards if a deal was to even start.

Well thats your issue right there.

NB have been belted pillar to post all season and the only reason they had a decent game last week was they were playing an equally shit team on the day.

Go back through previous weeks threads (theyre only about 2 pages each) and youll see just how bad it is being a forward for NB.

Worst side we could have sent a young forward to get form.

Because it isn't a hypothetical anymore.

If a club want Black and North look at him and think: "He just isn't the same after that injury year, we aren't convinced he will ever get back to his former levels and doesn't offer more than specialised players in other roles on field" then the next two years are on the table and I guess we will tell if/when he is traded just how much North still want him on their list.

I fully respect that to North fans he has a worth far greater and above that which I personally rate him at.

Morabito is on a one year, year to year contract.
I get the feeling you don't know what hypothetical means

AB been unhappy for a long time. I have reported before his want to go home. Signed a contract when he couldn't get a trade as a strategic decision. His form fall whilst not helped by his injury has been massive. Trade him. Doesn't want to be here.
He's all smiles at training. Definitely one of the boys

If he requests a trade to Fremantle we must bend them over with no Lube present.

They are shot for key forwards once Pav goes. We have all the power here. Need outside players.

Black for a first rounder

They played a team that has also been poor all year. The ball has hardly been in the F50 for NB all year previous to this game. They are really struggling.

Names like Crozier and Sheridan have been thrown around as a potential swap for Black. I haven't seen much of either, what do people make of them? Both top 20 picks

Yeah they'll say piss off and find someone else. Meanwhile we're stuck with old mate who can't kick a set shot or have any presence on a football field.

Crozier or Sheridan may help to address our 2011 Draft failures. :)
Both were picked in top 20 of that draft (20 and 16 respectively), with us picking up McKenzie in between them.
Tom Curran was pick 40 in the same draft.

If Waite got injured - Daw would come in, not Black. It's hardly like he's banging the door down in the VFL. Granted NB have been horseshite, but save for one mark against Hawthorn, he was unsighted.
If he wanted to go and Freo/West Coast/any other club were to offer something good - we'd be silly not to even look at it. WE hold the power.
If Waite gets injured Black comes in, that's clear as day.

Trade Black for a pacy outside mid or good draft pick.

Get Henderson via FA.

Brown/Henderson/Daw/Wood and potentially Durdin available as fwds after Petrie and Waite leave. Hansen could also be shifted as a last resort if injuries hit.

Win/Win even if Black does perform for WC or Freo.
