If he develops, looks like a replacement for George. With a better kick.

Our VFL, right now, is actually short a guy like him. Maher and Ramshaw regularly get beaten in the middle. A VFL midfield with him, Carroll and Wilson is one that could develop very nicely.

Anyway, it’s all a crapshoot. Let’s see how the kid goes. On Sunday!

I would say two-way running, tackling pressure and spread from the contest are his main pros based on what I've read of him tonight.

I was reading a match report from a month ago, linked from rookiemecentral. I haven't read much else.

Should slot into the VFL perfectly. Can't underestimate how much a performing seconds side helps in development.

Def needs a visit to Ciccone’s 😂

Love this

Got pretty broad shoulders for a 19 year old. One thing our VFL team need is inside mids. It is also going to put pressure on Hewett, Kennedy, Cerra and Carroll. Binns is going to love taking advantage of his inside work and tackling.

There are two types of pace - one generated below the hips, and the other between the ears.
The quickest player I have ever seen?
Greg Williams.

Not when Chad Warner is bursting from a stoppage. All the smart in the world doesn't save this team from that sort of threat.

We are desperate for a Warner type (who isn’t) but the ball moves quicker by hand and foot than by running with it.

Unfortunately for the competition the Chad can do both.

I'm more thinking of defensive running. It's traumatising seeing our blokes get further and further behind. The good news is when the grounds become 5km long, we're going to wear them down.

Probably the idea behind picking Cooper tonight over a player like RCD.

McMahon was the interesting choice. Still reckon we could’ve thrown him on the list with the other selection for 6 months and said give it your best shot. I’m sure he will be considered at the end of the year. No way we could have him over an actual Lord though.

Welcome lad.

For what it’s worth, I looked at Chad warners draft profile. Interesting reading:

“IMPROVEMENTS
Speed
Kicking penetration“

Perhaps he is just more evasive than some of our taller mids e.g. Cripps, Kennedy?

Also noticed half backs now charge the centre bounces to try get overlap run. I think our pace off hbf from Saad and Cowan kicking on will support our midfielders.

FWIW he recently had a tagging role on Luke Parker in the VFL.
Parker's first two games in the VFL this year, 34 & 37 disposals, in his third outing, Lord kept him to 24 disposals (incl just 13 kicks).

I don't spend much time noting non-Swans players in the reserves, but Lord's job stood out.
And he certainly didn't back away when Luke took him on physically.

It was a impressive performance.
