Cooper Lord received the shock of my life on the night of the 2024 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

“I didn’t expect it at all. It was pretty low key — and then it happened. I couldn’t believe it, it was an amazing feeling,” Lord said from IKON Park on Thursday.
“It’s been a bit of a whirlwind for the last 12 hours or so.

“After it happened, we went straight to the grandparents’ house and my mates came straight round, let themselves through the back gate and I got the shock of my life. It was very cool.”

For those concerned that we picked up a slowish player, they say Cooper has that blend of speed and endurance in his arsenal.

Not familiar with their draft expert so don't know if his views hold much weight... but if true, a hard at it, speed/endurance 2-way runner, sounds like a very welcome addition to our list.
