Round 9, 2019 (versus Richmond Tigers): Against the eventual 2019 premiers, Moore raised his game to another level, gathering a career-high 15 goals and kicking his first career goal as Hawthorn slumped to defeat. Five of Moore's 15 disposals against the Tigers were inside 50 entries, demonstrating that Moore has the clear potential to be a link-up player across Hawthorn's half-forward line.

Round 15, 2019 (versus West Coast Eagles): In what turned out to be his last AFL game for the season, Moore was not nearly so effective, having just eight disposals (including one kick) although he did manage a career-high five tackles in what was a dirty day for Hawthorn's forwards. The coaching staff and selection committee decreed that Moore needed to work on certain aspects of his game at Box Hill and he went back to the VFL for the remainder of the season.

Seriously, loving your work, Dixie, and didn't realise he was ranked that highly in assists. Hoping he keeps tracking along well.

Must say, I was hoping for a bit more from Moore this year. Was an elite junior athlete and thought with our lack of small forwards, he'd take a bigger chance.

Next year needs to take a step forward.

his role as a junior wasn't as a small forward and he doesn't have those attributes (fast twitch/acceleration) etc.

I'd love to see what he can do as an inside mid.
 
Yes it seems a positional dilemma. His two attributes which set him apart are his endurance and contested marking. Strange mix, seems like he needs to carve out a role for himself rather than slotting into an old one.

I know he took some great contested marks at BH, but given his lack of height and reach, can't see that being a strength at AFL level, as he is always going to be playing on someone 4 - 6 inches taller than him and the reach to get a hand in at every aerial dual.

Would like to see Dylan, Cuz and Jones get a lot of time on ball together with BH next year.

Me too, but something tells me that the club don't see him as an on-baller. We were desperate at times this year, but he never got a real look in. They kept him on the outside or up forward. A few times he was able to get on the end of things through hard running. But yes, something tells me we'll see better output if he's in the contest. Ditto Connor Glass.
 
The other player in the AFL who lacks height and pace but has serious endurance is Caleb Daniel. He has been a star in his new position on a back flank. Dylan doesn't quite possess the footy smarts of Daniel, but there is no reason why he can't find himself a position somewhere unexpected.

I liked what he showed this year. The game against Essendon in particular where he was just about our best player to half time.

Currently would see Wingard, Ollie, Moore as our high half forward flank roll in that order. If Chad plays more mid time it might allow Moore to squeeze back in and show his talent in his third season in the system.
