In season 2020, he made his AFL debut against Brisbane Lions in Round 17 after producing some strong individual performances in scrimmage matches, and impressed with eight hit-outs and two inside 50.

Not really. That's real estate.

Tom De Koning isn't worth 1.7mil just because St Kilda are desperate.

Amartey is worth a decent above average contract, but he isn't worth getting into a bidding war over if some club wants to go stupid and pay him like he is a star.

It’s also footy. Whether we want to pay what the other clubs think he’s worth is another thing entirely but yes, that’s his worth.

Amartey contract should be based on his impact on the team, finding a suitable replacement (Mclean is laughable) & our premiership aspirations. He's also done a fine job in the ruck with his athleticism. The game is getting quicker & rewarding teams who embrace mobility across the ground. The game does not suit slow & lumbering players like Mclean, it's tailored to players like Amartey. Explosiveness, power & athleticism.

Find cheap alternatives for the likes of Mclean & Adams, use some of those funds for Amartey. It might still not be enough as a team could give him an outrageous contract. Curnow, Amartey & Mcdonald compliment each other very well, & fit into our current game style.

The biggest risk with Amartey is his injury history. We need to take appropriate risks when in the premiership window.

I usually hate goal songs and celebrations and all that jazz, it's a team sport and shouldn't be about individuals.

But

I just cannot bring myself to hate hearing "We Like to Party" every time Amartey goals. Absolute ****ing banger of a song

I prefer to contemplate Rachel Stevens appearing and belting out “There ain’t no party like an S Club party”.

I for one.. Love goal celebrations!
yes its a team game and thats why the goal scorer goes and high fives his team mates etc.. but its also the individual that kicks the goal - often when others wouldn't be able too (thats why defenders play in defence and forwards play forward and the best mids kick the most goals)

The SCG crowd has been loving it too. Particularly the lower tiers in the Trumper stand, I’ve noticed. If he kicks goals in the fourth quarter that part of the crowd are properly pissed up and ready to have fun.

It is and it’s perfect for the moment, too. Long may it continue!

Good pressure in the forward fifty and when he grabs an opponent it's very rare they break the tackle or get an offload. If he's confident with his kicking and we can isolate him one on one in the fifty then he's a massive threat.
