If I was Hartley I'd be praying Sydney or whoever we play name a tall forward line. If we can get away with Hurley, Ambrose and Gleeson then I reckon he's out of the side.

Needs to learn how to do body work prior to contests and to do more intercepting work. He's not terrible but he is a bit one dimensional.
I'd much prefer Ambrose as a pure stopper - really makes his player earn every kick.

The number 1 rule for a defender is be hard to play against. He needs to watch Ambrose and how he niggles his opponent non-stop.

Far too loose today. Needs to be much much better. If he gets a chance he must perform. John Worsfold has shown all year he is not afraid to drop him if he's been poor. Big call to be made.

Felt sorry for him at times today because we allowed the ball to come in far to quickly and accurately, but he also lost his man to often and struggled to get in the right position (playing from behind when he should have been in front and vice versa)

Anyway, Hartley was average. Got burnt on a bad kick from Ambrose once. Team defence through the midfield was woeful, letting Freo score way too easily at times

Need to combine Ambrose's defence with Hartley's attacking attributes. Hurley back will make a huge difference
