Surely that must rank him as "incompetent" as an AFL footballer? Surely that is enough to have him excluded from the NMFC defensive six? Why do we have so many supporters willing to accept mediocrity (at best)?

The bloke isn't up to it, and it's time something was done about it. Something that should have been done at least three years ago.
Correct to a degree but who do we have better? He is still a better choice given our list than anyone outside the 22.

Remember a bloke called Jonathon Hay? He was to be our backline saviour.

The Obligatory Kangalicious Defends Watt Post.

Ok - didn't see last night's game, so will have to take your word(s) that he was unbelievably awful.

But - he has not been bad this season.

He will never be great.

Journeyman - and solid contributor.

Spot waiting to be taken - but so far no-one seems interested in stepping up and claiming it.

(sighs and waits patiently to be pilloried).

100% spot on KL. No upward pressure from the 2's/magoos.

Are you talking about 194 cm, 93 kg Jon Hay that we had to waste a first round draft pick on because 193 cm, 95 kg Shannon Watt was deemed too incompetent to hold down the role Hay was recruited for?

Thanks for reminding me of that, now I'm even more pissed off.

You'll be right TTD. Those sorts of things should slide right off you.

You won't be pilloried but the Kangalicious defending Watt scenario is fast losing momentum. I even defended him of late on the back of some of your comments about him being reasonable in some matches (he did beat Boyle of Hawthorn, but he's average at best), but he needs to be moved on. Laidley's hands are somewhat tied by injuries and I've nothing against him, his facial expressions during a match prove that he's doing his best, but he's simply not up to it.

He'll get Brad Johnson this week and towel him up as he usually does. He's a servicable player atm, i'm more worried we have no one else pushing up. James Wilson????pffft.

You took the words right out of my mouth: Fortunately you weren't kissing/cussing or whatever the funk it is, me. He'll get the job on the smiling Newport boy, shut him down and everything will be honky dory again.

Pffft? Wilsen has been looking good and he's a big kid who has great overhead ability and goal sense. In the long run I think thats going to pay off.

James Wilsen.

i would prefer cruize garlett or wundke if we were looking at rookies
Wundke has done his shoulder and Garlett would run out of gas in the space of about 2 minutes. Like I said, Wilsen, despite his traditional nerdy Sydney appearance, is going to be a player. Even if he doesn't play this year (and he won't) I'd promote him now.

Unfortunately, we're not left with a lot of alternatives rookie wise with the injuries.

Or that we chose Harvey's brother (can't even remember his name), instead of Aaron Davy.

wundke is only out for a couple weeks i believe and garlett is a really skillfull player an a real gamebreaker and he wouldnt run out of gas in 2 minutes and i believe he is doing extra fitness work

What game were you watching?
He had 5 kicked on him in the first half, allowed his direct opponent goal side on far too many occasions, and missed a target from 25m by foot with no pressure on by 5 metres, turned the ball over and Footscray goaled.

His second half was an improvement, but he is, and always has been way under the mark.

Constantly turns over the ball and gets pushed off the ball too easily for a big bloke, or any size bloke for that matter.

If thats playing the role well, we are in massive strife.

he had me cringing whenever he had the ball. Still he stuck to his task and made that huge intereception in the last when it counted.

That was funny, a mate and I said surely that was a Bulldog error not great play from Shannon Watt.

I think you will find it was an errant disposal that just landed in his arms, he's not smart enough to read the play that well.
