maybe we could get the mods to sticky a Festivus style 'Airing of Grievances' thread for those players or anything North related that we are discontented about. ;)

Not an embellishment to say he had only one play yesterday that had a positive impact??

You surely are taking the piss or have your hand on it. Watch the game again or take a peek at yesterdays stats, you don't have a leg to stand on.
Are you spying on me?

Give Thompson a good 100+ game run at establishing his spot in the team and I reckon he'll give us a bit more than Watt. In terms of games played, Watt is by far our most experienced regular defender. His clanger count belies this fact.

Now, for the feats of strength ...

After watching the replay, I reckon he was ok going our way but let himself down a few times defensively. One on Johnson was very ordinary and happens a bit too often.

He's going ok.

Only one team...
Said it before and i'll say it again....we are not fair dinkum with Watt in the team. No body in there right mind can see watt at the footy club in the next year or two....so any game into Thomspon is a good one! Seriously, I know thompson may leak a few goals, but watt is surely not exactly holding his opponent to a few goals a game..........

I am not real happy with regular NMFC BFer's criticsing Watty but i'll cop it :( he gave his all and in the end his interception led to the goal that won us the game (IMO) That said tazidevil you can f... off back to st.kilda and maybe you can ask a few hard questions of your own teams peformance of late, wanker

The typical Watt game is either just under average or just above average.

He rarely has a shocker and rarely rips a game apart.

The fact is, he gives Dean a consistent performance wek in week out and until there are player's good enough and consistent enough to do likewise, he will be in the team.

FWIW, Thompson doesn't seem like the replacement to me but certainly Hansen could be allowing Spud to move into a less stressful role.

Another thread attacking a north player, who doesn't pick himself or choose who he is playing on, some of you make me sick. It's un-North like. The way some of you carry on you would think he was playing to make errors.

He made some errors, 4, gee shoot him, Hamish made 5 is BOG, Pratt and McMahon made some as well.

Watt was 80% effective, better than the team 75%.

I don't mind the errors as much if he is having a go at it, its the indecision stuff that drives you crazy.
As much as it pains me to say it, because I have a deep-seated love affair for the bloke, but Spud has been guilty of this on occasions too this year. Did it again last night, ran it out of the 50, was confronted by a Bulldogs player, and just ran straight at it, and had to try and extract a handball out to avoid being pinged. But you won't see Spud criticised for it (probably because everyone is scared he reads BF and will come round to your house and smack you around for it)

Watt is servicable, and I try not to take my frustrations out on him. The greatest frustration is knowing that there is nobody beating down the door to replace his position in the backline. He has his flaws no doubt, but who should have played in his position for the last 4-5 years instead?

What game were you watching?
He had 5 kicked on him in the first half, allowed his direct opponent goal side on far too many occasions, and missed a target from 25m by foot with no pressure on by 5 metres, turned the ball over and Footscray goaled.

His second half was an improvement, but he is, and always has been way under the mark.
Correct. He did some good things, and good on him for continuing to work hard & give his best. But the truth is, we can't win a flag if he is in our best 22.

I rarely comment on players and at times Shannon Hymie after the man robot from Get Smart Watt gives me the shits but hey so do many of the other players. He is now a 10 yr player would expect he Bleeds Blue and White and loves the Club, so thats one positive. He also at least gives many of our supporters each week a talking point where there is much gnashing of teeth :D I know Watt as Hymie but on this board he should be known as the "Agitator" for reasons we can see hear on the board

Spot on Melly017, it's un-north like to personally attack a player. Watt has a crack and like all players has his strenghts and weakenesses. Is he in our best 22? Probably not for mine but that's not his fault so go easy on him.

If Drew plays back along with Spud, Gibbo and Pratt, do we need another tall? Maybe the answer is to unleash Josh Smith.

He is a ____ing hack.

He is a useless Footy player. And Should be dropped.

How he continues to get a game is beyond me.

Was killed all night. There is no mach up in the AFL that he would win.

He deserves a spot in the 2's next week.

Yeah, nah, that's a pretty crap post, tdf. Pointless drivel capped off by the patently ridiculous claim that "there is no match up in the AFL that he would win". Even Watt's detractors will concede him a few scalps, so you have immediately undermined the validity of your opinion on the bloke.

For mine, Melly017 continues to be the voice of a measured, reasonable assessment of Shannon Watt.

I'm okay with Watty. Always have been, still am. Flawed but serviceable. When something better comes along, I'll get back to y'all on the subject.

Until then, here's my quick, (Lidge-approved), musical tribute to the broad, majestic Shannon.
