An observation not a criticism, but was he on the radar of any other club? Jack at least kicked 6 for VIC in a Teal Cup game, so how has Ben gone at the higher level?

If he makes it we are way ahead. Comes from Good stock, Good size and will hold a key position most likely down back. I am sure SOS would not tarnish his reputation and the legacy of the family name at Carlton for the sake of influencing or insisting on the recruitment of Ben. The way the media and AFL community scrutinises players, as a father he wouldn't want to put his boy through that if he really wasn't up to it.

The broken thumb helped but I also believe Ben was also kept under wraps. Either way as long as the club treats him equal to any other player on the list I will be happy if he is good then fine if not he needs to be cut like any of the other teamate that cant make the grade.

So turns out the reason he missed the back half of the year was a broken thumb.

Got caught ball watching in his last Vic Metro game on a few occasions and coaches wanted him to do a little work on it. End of training Campbell Brown goes to do the one on one work (only meant to be 5 run throughs, nothing extreme)

First contest, ball ends up smashing thimb, breaks thumb.

Hence why he slid a bit.
Would it be too cynical of me to wonder if his dad suggested he should take "plenty of time" recovering from the injury?
Just to make sure it's 100% right for his first pre-season. (At the Blues.) ;)

I agree, but I still feel a litte bit of special treatment here, Time will tell and I really really hope I'm wrong, very excited about everyone else though
