If he starts clunking marks where he always gets two hands to it, he’ll elevate very quickly to a key contributor

He’s being asked to play the selfless role of gut running everywhere, and can snag a goal here and there

I think it’s the perfect role for florent I’d love to see him forward of centre more has the tank to get up and back on the wings outta form maybe but has panels on Warner .
There's plenty would agree with you. I would on the attacking side but not on the pressure/defensive side. Pretty sure Ollie was dropped because Cox felt that was not up to scratch. Maybe we'll find out one day.

The thing people are struggling to understand is okay sure but are Mitchell/C.Warner/Hanily offering more than what Florent can?

Personally for whatever reason Cox just doesnt think much of what his role can be to the team

I think that'll happen with the players we're regaining from injury. That wouldn't be a bad thing but I'm also ok with him continuing to be in the top team and developing there. I'm ambivalent. I see upside either way.
Im glad you are

Maybe he is doing it for Florent. Maybe some players just need to go back and reset. Work on some things and get some confidence. ..remember what he does do well. Horse did it with a couple and it paid dividends. I think Ollie will come back better for a stint in the twos.

The likes of Max King are a bit like Corey. Amazing athletic profile but yet to prove themselves as AFL standard footy players. (Corey's running verical leap in his draft year was even better than King, Kyle, Phillipou and Hetherton!) Corey has a bit of breathing room after signing a contract extension to the end of '27 but the writing is on the wall after that if he hasn't cemented himself.

Interesting that Cox chose to give Corey a fair bit of opportunity last season. Methinks Coxy likes players who can jump. I suspect he LOVES them if they can't mark as well.

Warner and Hanily under contract and Mitchell zero trade value and low $ cost. Ollie was the right choice to move on. Pretty sure we tried hard to keep Will.

He needs a clear defensive role. Either as a small defender, tagger, or defensive forward like Ben Keays.

It's not going to happen as a pure midfielder.

✅ Where his best strengths lie. There's plenty of fight in the dog. Enjoys the contest.
I wonder if he could succeed Harry when his time is up. Small defender and tagger have a lot in common.
Did he spend time this year as a defensive forward?
He's good enough to keep on the list.

Works really hard but is the steak knife of the Warner brothers. Reckon he will return to WA with Chad.
