Past #37: Kyron Hayden - delisted end '22 - 12 NM games/ 0 NM goals - thanks Ronny

I doubt he's going to play at all next year, as the way he reacted was textbook for an achilles tear. There's no need to rush him back anyway, so the club should just be as cautious as possible and have him 100% ready to do a full pre-season ahead of the 2021 season.

Fortunately we're able to keep him on the rookie list for another two years, so it's an absolute no-brainer to give him those two years to prove himself.

Out all next year you think? 18 month injury? or 12 months and the 'pre season'?

Most of the available evidence on torn achilles and the rehab time required is from the NBA.

Kevin Durant is the most recent player to do it and they are talking about him being out for 12 months.

The average rehab time based on a number of NBA players in recent years is 9 months.

Given Kyron is young and meticulous in his rehab it is possible he will be able to play in 2020 - he is unlikely to be ready 'Round 1' - but he should be able to get on the park next year.

I could be wrong and probably am, but since the start of the Scott coaching era,, we seem to have had several players getting injuries in their first games for the club! We appear to have had some ****house luck in that regard.

Amazing how few players came back in the NBA after an Achilles rupture. I saw a stat of the average number of days out on an article on Durant, and it's usually 12 months before playing again in the NBA. And only 1 star player got back to star level in recent times. Doesn't seem as bad for AFL players.

9-12 months given his age. And we have one of the best strengthening coaches around. Maj has surprised a few so let's see how he goes. Saw the tweet he put out, he's already mentally challenging the recovery odds, and don't doubt he'll push it. All the best Kyron.
