Past 38. Sam Durdin

Liked when we recruited him, hoping he could fill a void short to medium term.

Has natural aggression, smart player, but has struggled for continuity due to a number of factors

I hope he gets a decent run at it and today is a good time to come into the side despite missing some cogs in the back 7

Looked good in the VFL last week. Strong in the marking contest. Made good decisions.

Go out there and do the same thing. Just play to your abilities and strengths, support Weiters and there is a spot to be locked down if you want it enough.

I thought he steadied and did his job in the second half. Very much looked like a fill in though.

Let's hope a few of our 2nd tier boys really seize their opportunities and take their games to the next level. God knows we need them to atm. NO PASSENGERS!!

Given he was injured in the first quarter, he did a remarkable job. His direct opponent had very little influence. He obviously couldn’t move with any agility or power but just got in the right position to block his man.
I find it a bit bemusing the negativity he has received without getting any credit for playing under incredible duress. Anyone who has done a calf will know it is almost impossible to play a game of AFL.
Most players would have just gone off. I think he probably realised it was his last AFL game and just wanted to do what he could to get the navy blues a win.

I thought he was poor but was obviously hampered by the early injury.

I'd resign him for the VFL next year.

We need depth KPD who are available when needed
He will not stay if he is not on as a Rookie or main list will return to South Australia. The VFL need to find key tall when season end from Country football or others clubs.

We still have one spot to fill, two if we replace Newman. So it's not the Carroll re-signing that has Durdin leaving as such. He must have just been told today.

Unfortunately for him as he is a big man and promises to be a bit of a rock at full back, but just can't get his body right.

This year we've seen the departure of two good defenders whose bodies let them down. With a bit of luck both Sam and Marchbank will get looked at by VFL teams.

I thank Sam for his time at the club, and I wish him all the best going forward.

It will be back to SA for Sam, I suspect.

I think this one is pretty sad, much like Marchbank, the spirit was clearly willing but the body wouldn't let him go on with it.

The players and the club clearly loved this guy too.
