Player Watch #38: Steven Morris

I wouldn't go in with the idea of tackling Eddie out of the game.
But spoiling him might work.
First, gotta keep up with him.
That's true.

Maybe they see Morris as a possible small forward shut down specialist considering the next few weeks with Adelaide (Eddie Betts and Charlie Cameron), Western Bulldogs (a range of great small/mid forwards), Fremantle (Michael Walters), GWS (Toby Greene), Essendon (Orazio Fantasia) have potentially game winning small forwards.

He hasn't played AFL for nearly a year and I'm not sure how his fitness levels will go, but I think with the decent start to the year the club feels it's a risk they can afford to take (like Elton). I think the risk is a step too far but we'll see.

There was the experiment of using Morris as a small forward to keep the ball within our 50, not so much as to score.
IMO, we all agree that it didn't work.
His correct position is HBF.
And put B. Ellis forward of centre. He's a turnover expert at HBF.

Stiff s**t as commonsense sees through that. I'm sick of people like you derailing threads.
I legitimately question if you know what derailing a thread even means. Last I checked I wasn't the one who bagged the coach out in a thread about Morris.

Ahh yes, I think they wanted to turn him into Jake King mk2.

Talls
Otten - Astbury
Walker - Rance
Lynch - Grimes
Jenkins - Ruck/fwd
McGovern missing and Normally Jenkins would play instead of Otten.

Smalls
Douglas - Houli
Cameron - Ellis
Betts- Conca
blokes like knight and macay rotate thru there.

I'm sick of having to read through piles of pages with your meaningless posts that are non related to the topic at hand.
Going through a post and picking out one word and making this your argument vindicates the problems with your posting.
You totally missed the argument mopsy was making. Just as you did in the game thread earlier on.
I will make it easier for you as if you find something offensive please report it and let the mods decide on it bc I'm sick of having to read through pages of dribbles and dribbles of you and alike carrying on.

People are going to jump up and down because i suggest it again, but this is why i have advocated we develop someone like Castagna in the back half.
I know he has been good in the fwd half but there are other options like him for the fwd half.
Like Jake King , he started in the back half and only looked like a senior player once he went forward

The difference is jake king was good when he went forward and stevey boy wasnt.
Morris dispite his limitations is a good shutdown defender.
When he retires i hope he skolls a pot on front of us tiger faithful like jakeyboy did. One of my favorite tiger memories

I have been a big critic of our performances against smalls, but that is expected with a offensive first approach to small backmen which we employ.

Morris will simplify the jobs with their mosquito fleet.

I was responding to mopsy suggesting George go to HBF not morris

Feel sorry for this bloke, got my #17 signed by Dan at open training at the oval this arvo and he was next in line, as he came round I pulled my jumper in... should've seen the look on his face :'(

He said "don't worry I would do the same if I was you"... I tried to tell him it was me and not him!

Since when did Morris and Miles play the same position? How are the two players even comparable?
Since when indeed? so logic would suggest im not advocating Miles instead of Morris to perform the same role.It really is not a big jump to make.

Menadue, Houli, Ellis Conca Markov McIntosh Short and Vlastuin plus Grimes who is regularly asked to play on smalls all named in the squad fmd we should all be asking ourselves why Morris at all with so many sml/ med type defenders in the squad why name another one who has done jack schit. Surely thats enough Sml/med type players in the team who can play backline so why not name the genuine inside mid in miles instead a bloke who has gebuine form and a damn more browny points on the board if people are counting them.

Yeah still not really seeing your point. It's a thread about Morris, has literally nothing to do with Miles. It's just another chance for you to pot the coach and call him Dimwit (real clever).

If Morris comes in and plays midfield, and an inside midfielder, then I will come back and apologise. But as we are discussing Morris' inclusion in the side, there really is nothing that Miles has to do with this.

Literally none of those guys bar Grimes is a lockdown defender. Menadue is not a defender at all really, McIntosh is what, 191cm? Grimes could do it but at 193cm they probably have another role lined up for him, plus they can't all play on Betts. Adelaide has the most dangerous fwd line in the league. Tigga as we all know is playing that inside mid role this season, Markov, Houli, Ellis and Conca provide rebound and are decent defenders but not lockdown and same with Short really. Betts would tear Short a new one at this point in their careers.

I wouldn't mind seeing Conca go with him, I think he is defensively minded enough. But you know what, I can see why Morris is in as Betts is the form forward of the comp and the match committee obviously think we need someone to try and shut him out of the game. I don't think Morris is part of our general 22 but I think when there is a really dangerous small forward he has a role to play. In time I would hope Short can do this instead but for now Morris is probably the best on our list at that role.

You're above post is more than fair enough and I actually somewhat agree, but just randomly potting the coach, calling him names and stuff is not the way to make a semi decent point.

lol so we didnt need Miles. Spanked in C/P'S and Clearances. Yet we bought in Morris to do what exactly.
Ive called it in advance and not one chicken little prepared to acknowledge it. Ah well no wonder theres a tendency to pull ones own chain eh.If not for the name calling id let it ride like i do on most occasions but to hell with it from here on in.

Morris came in to help run over them. We must be about to catch them by now...

I got worried 15min into the first and i noticed him in the forward pocket. What a stupid selection and not his fault. Two games after a year off and DH wants this plodder back. meh a culture killer with his terrible disposal.
I didn't see any of the game. He was in the forward pocket?:tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
