got up high in some ruck contests and managed to get clear hands to it, was well beaten in some though but that's up against bailey williams who himself has been doing it for a few years with a bit more height and a bigger, more mature body than sims. so sims did alright in his first game when asked to play in the ruck, especially since he wasn't lining up against a tradition 2nd ruck, williams is more of a first ruck player. so most other games should be a bit easier in the ruck

You could really notice the jaundice when he was in the middle of the song after the game.

This guy will be the best of the forwards. Those dukes and size at his age. His work at ground level and drill pass to lynch.
Before today's game, I was excited by the prospect of having two promising tall forwards coming through in Armstrong and Faull, but now we seem to have three key forwards who all have shown they have the capabilities to be long term targets.
Sims was amazing today; attacking the ball in the air and on the ground (how many tall forwards do you see down on their knees, wrenching the ball out of packs?!), marking the ball at its tallest point, kicking goals, contesting ruck contests and throwing his weight around. He struggled on occasions against bigger more mature rucks, but he was already wrestling and competing. For a first game ruckman, that was enormous.
I'm really excited by a player of his height and size, with the combative attitude he has and skills he possesses. So glad we picked him.

really good 1st game great mark great kick great workload and great attitude. Was surprised when faul got the call up as I thought this guy was doing heaps better Surely this kid is our Lynch replacement forget rucking.

Once he settled, he was smooth. Some of the passes for his size, first game, DELICIOUS. Also never got out marked.

Not sure. He could end up the prototype modern day ruckman that is mobile, takes big contested marks and can float forward and kick goals.
If Faull and Armstrong kick on, I reckon he ends up taking over ruck from Nank.

Did some really spectacular things for a debutant. Strong pack mark, great goal, threaded the needle with that pass. If he needs a rest later on give him them, otherwise I reckon fast track his development in the seniors. Would love to see him notch up a dozen games this year. Put a line through Samson's name.
Do we think he might be better than Matt Whitlock? I know too early to tell but geez North would be crying out for Sims you'd have thought.
