England with a chance to take an unassailable lead in the series. Will Australia remember to pick enough bowlers this time, does Smith even have a plan A, let alone a plan b for when it's going a bit pear shaped? All will be revealed. Match begins 1350 ACDT.

Australia should maybe do an England and select a separate capt. for ODI's. Think Gough's got it right with NFI. [retain Smith as player and make him bowl]
If things aren't working out we seem to be going back to what was broke in the first place. No flair or dare makes johnny a dull boy.

Is Hazelwood due back today?

Also if White is gonna play, he has to bat at 4 or 5 ffs. Stoinis and Carey can do the late innings slogging.

Won't Paine be back?

If we are insistent on bringing back Paine, we should drop either Head or White and push Carey up the order as a specialist bat.

Bloke did more than enough on debut to be retained, can't say the same about the other two

Head should be dropped regardless. Just doesn't have the form going into this game

Australia 1.64 favourites. England 2.30.

Wow. We haven't even come close to winning a game.

From the Graund blog.
Joe Root features in his 100th ODI today and regardless of how many runs he makes he will join an elite list of batsmen to average over 50 at this stage in his career. The others? MS Dhoni, AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, Michael Bevan and Hashim Amla. Rarefied air indeed.

Won the toss, we are bowling first

Out: Head, Carey, Tye, Richardson
In: Paine, Cummins, Hazlewood, Zampa

Feel sorry for Carey and Richardson. They both earned their way in the last game but I don't understand the Zampa selection. Surely the selectors would be looking at GOAT for Sydney

Really hope Zampa makes a contribution otherwise there may not be any SA boys in the team for their home ODI this Friday. If white has a stinker then Head must come back in

Agreed, really Carey should have kept his spot too.

The big bear will make 100 today and prove his doubters wrong.

No. Head can actually score some runs domestically first. He’s dead set made no runs for ages
