Who are our greatest 50 over batsmen? Off the top and in no particular order:
M Waugh
Gilchrist
Bevan
Smith
G Chappell
Ponting
Hayden
Jones
Warner
Martyn
Boon
What do these players have in common? All were excellent first class batsmen, and even good test cricketers.
We are absolutely kidding ourselves with JFM and Short.
The emergence of Dave Warner quite obviously made them think twice about things.

No matter what anyone thinks about Warner, to his credit he wanted to play all forms of cricket and worked hard on his technique. He’s still a tosser though. All of them bar Warner and Smith emerged before t20 was a thing, and Warner had barely played first class cricket when he was trotted out in all formats for his country
In what sense? Being prepared to pick relative newcomers, or preferring attacking batters? Or something else? The emergence of Dave Warner quite obviously made them think twice about things.
