Big respect for Matthews- showed more testicular fortitude that the whole indian side, combined -all summer.
Yep. Matthews just keeps on impressing. They need to move him up the order I reckon. Gonna be a player.

Should really have won that easier than we did in the end, but then again to defend 231 on a good wicket is a good effort.

Gutsy from Starc bowling a short ball, could have easily gone for six and probably should of.

Credit to the last Sri Lankan pair for making it an exciting finish, they looked gone for all money when Malinga was out.

A shame McKay gave all those runs and more back with the ball.

And brought SL right back into the game ... .
It was actually Dan Christian going at almost 6 an over that kept Sri Lanka in the game. Poor man's Simon O'Donnell is Christian. The sooner we get either Watson or Hastings back, the better.

Unlucky Mathews very good knock, Australia got away with one. Would have been good to see the srilankans get up tonight imo for the benefit of the series with this summer of cricket being a pretty boring and predictable.

Christian picked up two wickets including Jayawardene, had four edges go to the boundary, cut off several fours in the last few overs and took the winning catch. Oh yeah and him and Clarke kept the batting order together. FFS.

Christian also took 2 vital wickets, was brilliant in the outfield in the last few overs and made a very handy 33 to steady the ship with Clarke. Mckay played well too, which I can acknowledge, so I'm really not sure what your problem is.

Doherty's bowling won us this game. 2 for 24 off 10 overs. Pretty much 2 less rpo than any other bowler we had.

I'm not sure if you are being serious.

If you are ... you know absolutely nothing about cricket.

Christian had a tremendous game.

As for Hastings being better than him and worthy of mention in the same breath as Watson ... lol!

This, :thumbsu: showed why he has been considered the best one day domestic bowler for the last couple of seasons. I am still happy to admit that he is not a test match bowler, but he is one of our first picked in the one day side.

I thought Christian did alright, not a bad all round game.

He doesn't know anything about cricket, you are correct.

Just got back from the WACA. Awesome game. And that's why ODI's are better than Twenty/20's. The roar when Christian took that catch on the ropes was great.

Bout time the Perth fans got a thrilling ODI finish!! Well worth the $60!!!

God that was ****ing lucky. That was a shithouse ball from Starc and really easily could have lost us the game.

I literally didn't care in the slightest what the results of the T20s were, but even though this is a pretty meaningless series, I still really wanted us to get up in that last over.
Wow the pain that full season of 2 international t20s caused people. It'll take years to get over it.

And yes very lucky that ball didnt disappear deep into the night sky.

Tremendous? He was serviceable, Mathews had a superior game to him as far as allrounders go.

Unsure if Christian is an international standard batsmen from what I've seen, would love him to make it though.

What a thriller that was

Who says you need high scoring games for games to be exciting? Australia got what was seen to be a "paltry" total batting first

Sri Lanka looked 'done and dusted' at 7 for 140 something when it looked like none of their bats could handle the WACA pitch

then Mathews nearly pulled the game out of the fire
