To all those people who thought Greg Miller did a great job for the club, look at the financial mess that he left us with. $2M losses over 2 years and he's able to walk away from the club scott free.

It's not quite as cut and dried as that. Miller also delivered Wayne Carey, John Longmire, and Wayne Schwass to our club. He also helped pioneer the Friday night football (which the AFL has now delivered on a platter to Essendon and Collingwood).

Miller wasn't perfect, but no CEO is. But don't discount that he has done some very good things for our club as well as some that haven't been so good.

The only problem is, the things he hasn't done too well could spell the deathknell for the footy club as we know it today.

Actually I suspect there is a lot of word twisting going on there. It is possible that he was on the payroll of both parties at the time, but there is quite simply no way he could have been representing both parties in the same negotiation. That would be the most blatant conflict of interest imaginable and neither side would have accepted it for their own sake ("oh yeah, that's OK, we don't mind you putting them before us, yeah that's cool...")

this can be easily done as the same law firm can represent both parties if they are contracted to the 2 parties remember it was over tv negotiations and not necessarily a court battle.

do you think it would be possible to chuck eddie out of where he is....either he takes up channel 9 or the collingwood fc...not both and could a rallying point be made at the next board meetings because it could be spiralling out of control we have a team that has been in the doldrums since 1990 suddenly making millions of dollars profit despite no success on field except for a bias publicity and shameless plugging from one man who sits on both sides of the fence and doesn't see anything wrong with it....

how is it that this one team's guensey is worth 70% more than other teams? that's just ludicrous! then of course the footy show, the no.1 footy show today is turning into the collingwood, carlton, hawthorn, richmond and essendon show. it's insane!

i dunno about you but mutiny on the afl directors board should happen, western, kangas, geelong, stkilda have all suffered to bad publicity and lack of exposure, sydney hate mcchins, that makes it a possible 5 against 4, with 6 more to vote...who i reckon would be pretty neutral or even negative to eddie....

richmond, essendon, hawthorn, carlton won't stand up because they're benefiting out of this...

The same firm can, sure, but in terms of conflict of interest there is a massive difference between same firm and same lawyer.

Most of the anger from this situation seems to be coming from the misguided idea that one and the same lawyer was representing both Nein and the AFL, which must be patently untrue.

How much money will we end up getting from the Deep Purple Concert??

The way i see it Melbourne Park holds around 15,000 people for a concert x how much the tickets are (you'd think they'd be around $100 each)

Thats 1.5 millions dollars.

And i wonder if any of that goes to the bands and the venue, and if the club gets money from Merchandise and beverages.

Well if the law firm was "reputable" they would advise both parties that there is a conflict of interest because they the law firm are acting on behalf of both parties.

My definition of reputable probably differs from the law firm's :)

as it was plugged on the footy show it was "all money going to the kangaroos...." so i'm guessing that'd be what it is....hopefully they can haul in a bucket load of money, god knows we need it!

1. Carey, Longmire & Schwass was over 10 years ago.
2. He was the CEO not the recruiting manager. I don't think you'd appoint Neville Stibbard to the CEO position.
3. I think Bob Ansett was at the helm for Friday night footy. Miller was still with Sydney.
4. The 2 biggest mistakes which have destroyed us has been Broady & Sydney. Guess who was in charge of those decisions.

I don't doubt his love for the club but as a CEO he makes a good recruiting officer. Strenghts where strengths are needed please.

I didnt think there was too much in the program that we didnt know already other than the fact it made it more pertinent to me that this move to Colonial MUST work.

Another thing to worry about is that even IF North Melbourne can demonstrate to the AFL that they are solvent (which, in reality, they aren't at present) does the will exist to really help. The language of Wayne Jackson last night doesnt filll me with alot of confidence, in this regard. Never expect any of the other clubs to help either, their responsibility is to their own clubs only.

The positive for me is that in Aylett and Easy we have two operators that know the score in this type of scenario.

And on the topic of Eddie - does anyone remember what he alleged when Easy joined North Melbourne last year? Thats right.....a conflict of interest.
