Tax rate over $180,000 is $54,232 + $0.45 for every $ over $180,000.

Tax at $1.6 million equals $54,232 + (.45 x 1,420,000) = $693,232.

Salary after tax: $906,768

Agent fee at 10% = $746,768

Tax at $1.2 million equals $54,232 + (.45 x 1,020,000) = $513,232.

Salary after tax: $686,768.

Agent fee at 10%= $566,768

At the standard ATO tax rate, and 10% Agent fee, Martin will earn $180,000 more at Norf than he will at the Tigers.

Obviously you have tax thresholds etc, but this is just a basic guide.

Don't want to shit on your figures or troll the board but there are a few things at play here. Carr would currently have "Dustin Martin Pty Ltd" set up with several investments that are absorbing at least some of his tax bill.

Also AFL player managers do not take 10% of contracts, the figure is closer to 3-4%, for someone like Dustin Martin it could be less as there are plenty of 3rd party endorsements, which they do take 8-10% of.

Where do these secret meetings happen? he had coffee with Carr and there were a million cameras there, bloke can't take a piss without it being reported on.

Do you blokes have an underground bunker with secret access tunnels for meetings?

From a tosser on the norf board

Martin leaves for North and Premiershipmond go out of finals in straight sets. This could be the best offseason ever.
Or norf finishes last, Martin resigns with Richmond and tells norf GAGF. Wins Brownlow, premiership and norm smith medal = worst season ever for norf

Says a lot about most people that they get pleasure from our losses. If that is how they get there kicks in life good luck to them.

It would be a bit of a trawl back but there is audio in our Dusty thread where Ziebell was being interviewed on whatever station Garry Lyon is on and Lyon asked him towards the end something like "how was the meeting last week between the LG and Dusty" to which Ziebell baulked and sold the line "of course we'd love to have Dusty at North" (along those lines) but with no denial. It married up with some rumours channel 7 was running with the week before but apart from that there is nothing "official".

Edit: found it https://audioboom.com/posts/6189741-jack-ziebell-on-garry-tim-and-hamish-thursday-august-10
the contect of that whole wuestion was based on that stupid redhead McClures story around Leaver meeting with the Dees.
Tongue in cheek both the question and the so called non denial response...

No one goes to North. No one.
This sick delusion has auto-fellated you latte-farqers for long enough.

You suck & don't deserve an afl license.

Why would the best player in the comp do that to himself?

Why do you do it to yourself?

Docklands Dusty: The stats favouring the Roos
Matt Thompson August 22, 2017 2:47 PM

DUSTIN Martin plays better footy at Etihad Stadium, a fact that's set to have North Melbourne fans salivating as negotiations on his future heat up.

What effing nonsense. As if ANY effing player in their right effing mind would favour Docklands over the MCG.

Here's a stat you didn't include - Dusty on average wins more games at the MCG than Docklands.

Whoever the hell you are Matt Thompson, you my friend are a nut job.
If Dusty is under such scrutiny like this now.Imagine how much he will be under being not only the highest paid player and current brownlow medalist but the face of norf.Least here Cotch.Jack Rance can absorb the attention.Go North! have sideshow bob.

Think you are right regarding investments, he would most likely have some sort of trust set up minimising his tax bill.

However, and I stand corrected, but as I understood it players are considered employees of each club and this was specified in previous CBA's so normal PAYG deductions would be made in regards to the amount he receives under his playing contract so the $1.2-$1.5m would be taxed at the highest tax bracket.

Their marketing dept has already stolen the Get Rioli, Get Rancey free idea should Dusty move.

Should shift considerable memberships with the Get Dusty, Get Ben Jacobs free* campaign.

I'm all for free speech but having to trawl through our own supporters dribble is bad enough without having to scroll over dozens of posts from north supporters who add zero value to this thread. It's only going to get worse as this thing drags on. Tigers only thread?
Agreed, if they aren't shitposting then they are button mashing. Sad.

Norf fans need to drop notion we lowballed Dusty on hid last contract. We offered Market value. He "explored" options to see if he could get more money out of us and was told in no uncertain terms we were offering him more than the other clubs would. We offered him the most last time and he signed. He was NOT lowballed.

Correction...That was in 2013. He re-signed again in 2015 with no fuss

Imagine if he goes there and they continue to be bottom 4. Bye bye Brad (if he is still there) and the media hounding Dusty on whether he made the right call and hounding Go North! on whether it was worth it?

Make no mistake. Their list is average and they are in for a rebuild.
