It is simply a case of mathematics. We all agree he is a $1 million a year player. The 20% cap increase pushes his value out to $1.2 million a year, which is I believe close to what we have offered him.
To dislodge him from Punt Road, someone would have to offer a ridiculous figure which we won't possibly match.
I say a club will need to offer $1.6-1.7 million a year to interest him enough to get him to leave. He aint leaving us because a rival club offered him $100-200K more.
I reckon Carr has a figure around $1.4-1.5 million a year to stay at Richmond.
I value him $1.2 million/5 years. I am comfortable with paying overs $1.3/6 years.
I'm not sure how our on-field performance in the remaining games will influence his decision, if at all. Win a few finals and he may be content we are on the right track. Win the premiership, and I really couldn't care less what any of our players do contract wise, as I will go on a months long bender from which I may never truly sober up.
