His stance has always been that he would wait to the end of the season. Dusty's a straight shooter hasn't changed from that statement at the start of the year.

I agree, if he is leaving they won't announce it until after the Tigers' season finishes.
No I mean Martin's camp has publicly announced that he'll make the decision before the finals. Stands to reason that they'll announce it then too. Otherwise why make that statement publicly now with the media attention it'll invite.

This will go down as one of the greatest trolls by RFC and Dusty. Other teams have wasted 12 months trying to sign him when he wasnt leaving lol. Meanwhile we will snag someone else.
Could it be some of Balmey's work? Know all along Dusty is staying, act like he's leaving so other clubs scramble to sign him and then pounce on some unsigned talent going unnoticed due to the Dusty saga

Maybe. Maybe not. What do we know about multi million dollar contracts you know?
It defies logic that he hasn't made a decision yet, but his manager knows that he will have a decision in 4 weeks.

He has already made his decision. If he was staying, he would announce it.

Even as a non-Tigers fan I think it would be a shame if he left Tigerland, I hope he stays.

This.
If he turns around a week out from finals and says 'im off to #Go North!' then he is a campaigner no?
Like i said a month ago, he will sign before finals ( even though all the media were pushing the end of season barrow). From those I trust, told me the time line but not the reason in full. Putting the strings together I believe we have assisted carr in building his player stable as the free press he has got from this has been priceless, got to understand Bolton joined Carr this year as well.

Dusty is loyal, loves the club but also Carr so in my opinion only, was more then happy to allow Carr to benefit and the club was OK with it as we know 100% Dusty wont go anywhere. Hence the before finals re signing will further boost the club at the perfect time leading into finals as a way to create a win/win. I was told most of this in April, and everything I have heard has been proven right.

I have zero doubt Dusty will be signing as a tiger for the next 6 years on a fair price, just with a discount compared to what he would deserve elsewhere.

Danger informed his manager b4 the season was over that he wanted to go to the Cats , just couldn't announce it till the day free agency started ! So Dusty making a decision at start of finals doesn't necessarily mean he is staying, hopefully it does though

Difference is Danger grew up on the surf coast near Geelong. He was always going there and he went there for unders.

It is tricky i agree.
I cant see him announcing he leaves on the eve of finals that makes less sense.
Why put that kind of timeframe on the club making terms with his new club? Why could that not stretch closer to trade week. Also makes no sense.

I am not sure Carr is that different to be honest. I think its Dusty that is different.

Here we have an absolute superstar of the game who shuns the media. I cant see Dusty earning much at all from footy after he retires. He will most likely rely on his next contract for life after footy and needs to juggle that with his footy aspirations. Carr is doing absolutely the right thing.
There are other options besides going into the media where he can cash in on his football image, like doing ads. Doesn't even need to talk, just "don't argue" a horse or something.

Did anyone read the article? The before the finals thing is just Carrs interpretation of what Dusty meant by "end of season".
To me end of season is after Richmond have played their last game of the year.

I think Dusty will stay. Seems like the money is close, he is very close to Dimma and Cotch, hes seen what its like playing for a bottom of the ladder team and I'm sure he realizes how much more enjoyable it is to play in a finals team. Reiwoldt said in an interview last week that Dusty is loving life.
Add in how much the club has helped him come along when there where fears he wouldn't make it, would make you think hes thankful for the club.

Maybe Saints or Dons could convince him because they are around finals too. But North, naaaaaa.

I've got three pieces of Dusty memorabilia.
The Jack Dyer Medal piece "Raging Bull"
The Dustin Martin "Wings" piece.
Also just another small signed one from earlier in his career.
I will look to be getting another one should he win the Brownlow.
However, I'd suspect they would do a Jack Dyer Medal/Brownlow Medal double piece.

Hoping he plays 350 games and turns out to be a legend of the club.

Thanks man. That actually makes a hell of a lot of sense as to why this has played out like it has.
Full faith.
Go tiges.

It's just unfortunate Im the only one left from those I rate who i know that have mail but wont share publicly due to said tools.

This seems pretty true. I remember after the last contract media frenzy when Carr got a lot of hate, he defended him pretty heavily on our best and fairest night in his speech.
