All good bro. I just share what I hear that I think has merit. I dont give a shit if it comes off or not, as I cant control that but there is no way will i be bullied off this forum sharing what I hear because of a few tools.

It's just unfortunate Im the only one left from those I rate who i know that have mail but wont share publicly due to said tools.
Maybe we can enjoy some pre final drinks on phiillyroo:D

Yes. Works out to 7.8 mil deal. Interesting thing is they revised Kellys offer from 9mil over 9 years to 7.5 over 5 years. This with Dustys 7.8 matches their board approved 15 mil warchest. I can see them being too greedy to get both and missing out completely lol. They should have concentrated all their effort on one IMO.
Poor strategy on the Kelly deal , what would a 22yo sign a 9y deal, he could sign a 2or 3y one for ~900+ at a top club,,,,then in 3 years sign for 1.2

He wins the Brownlow he adds 200k a season to his value. We are a 10% better team with him in it, if we lose him we will be 10% worse and some other team will be 10% better.

He suggested he wanted to see how we would go this season, it looks like we will go close if not actually winning it. We should be 16 and 2 but anywhere top 4 will work. Hopefully that gambit is not a red herring and he is open to staying even if we have to up our offer.

For those nervous the Brownlow count might be an incentive for him to delay signing, on the other hand if we finished top 4 if he signed before the finals it would be a huge boost to the club and the players enthusiasm.

Mate. Unless you are Dusty himself then for sure things can change etc etc. I appreciate the mail. It makes more sense than anything i have heard thus far.
Especially when Barrett claimed there was bad blood between RFC and Carr and Carr shot it down sharply and swiftly. I always thought he would but thought he may use that to his advantage and instead he got right on the attack, as if he took offence.
That utterly ties in with what you say, as does Bolton being signed to Carr, the timeline, Dustys enthusiasm this year and the media circus.
I hope its true not only because we keep the best player in the land but also because it makes us a deadset champion club to do this for him and his manager, who he clearly cares about.

It wouldn't be very logical for Dusty to come out and say he is leaving before finals, even if privately to the club. Therefore, I can only conclude he is staying at the club and his manager is just getting everybody ready for the party.

And really if we are at $1.2mil and North are at $1.3mil over the same period of time, first of all there is no way he is leaving for 600k over 6 years, his brand image would suffer more damage than that, especially at a minnow club, second I can't see there being any chance we wouldn't up our offer by 100k if it was the difference between him staying or going.

I think both parties are on the same page and are just looking to come to a fair arrangement that works for both Dusty and the club. I think the extra year on his contract is definitely one of those things that the club has given up to ensure Dusty is satisfied.

The way Richo said " we'll see " to knob face Stevens convinced me the club knows he is staying.

Makes perfect sense to announce it in the bye week because the media circus will be outa control and with no game on that weekend the team wont have any distractions, by the time the first final comes around Dusty's contract will be old news and the club can get on with preparing for a final, convinced the club has suggested this as well.

But he always is lol.
True, he's largely unflappable.

Can you elaborate for us?
He was asked a direct question about Dusty signing, and while his answer wasn't and couldn't be unequivocal, his body language and an aside was perfection for me. I'm not worried about all the while noise.

Not wanting to shoot Bambi, but let's say Dusty signs the godfather offer (here or another club) - who thinks he will actually improve on his current form?

FWIW, I think this is his career best form, and we won't see it again.

He's performing like a god in his contract year - it's smart. If we (or someone) signs him for 3,4,5,6 years I think he'll revert to being just a very, very good player. His value is as high as it ever will be, i hope we don't mortgage our salary cap on him and remain within our established pay structures.

The longer it's dragged on the more concerned I am that a) he's going to another club or b) he'll get paid too much.

If he goes, what would we get? Pick 15 and a pick straight after that (pick 16)? So we'd have 3 first round picks.

Fair point. But he genuinely has got better year after year, and I don't see why that should stop, even as a million-dollar man.

Which is very exciting. Especially if/when it's in yeller and black.

I think a bit the opposite. Dusty was always going to be late maturer, and he is as good as we all hoped I think. I understand your thinking Disco, but it's based on what we know or expect. It doesn't take into account what we don't know yet and what lives beyond our expectations. His kicking still has upside, he is still learning I believe. Imagine five years of this though if I'm wrong;)
