Email sent out from the club to the biggest Flight Plan donors. Actually a good update.

Jobe has suffered a tear to a tendon in his hip. It is the rectus femoris tendon where it is attached to the hip bone. To give you an idea of how rare this is it is the first time that an AFL athlete has done this injury (Doc Reid has never seen the injury before). Jobe is going under the knife later today to reattach it and will be operated on by Julian Feller at Epworth.

The recovery time for this isn't known because it's such an uncommon injury. They're hoping it'll be 8-10 weeks. We are in the process of finalising the funding and build for the new altitude room which will hopefully speed up his recovery post-surgery.

The team is expected to announce the replacement captain later this week when our team to play Melbourne is confirmed. Our leadership group consists of Jobe, Brett Stanton, Brendan Goddard, Heath Hocking, Jason Winderlich, Dyson Heppell and David Myers. Bomber said during an interview yesterday how good he thought Heppell would be as a captain.

Bomber Thompson has made a strong point of remaindering us that the loss of one player to the team shouldn't change the team's fortunes, even if the player is your captain. He has used the example of Geelong losing Gary Ablett, the best player in the competition and still winning the premiership. Because if Wallis had looked to his left he had three free players lined up in the forward line in a line 20-40 metres from goal. It was a monumental stuff up.
If Mercuri kicked the goal, which he would kick 999 times out of 1000, Wallis would never have been in that position. The runner up in the brownlow missing a dead set gimme to win the game was monumental.
