Currently has no position in AFL, doesn't get it enough and not a natural footballer.

Huge concerns for me at this point in time. Be interesting to see how much progress he makes this year.

This is easily the worst opinion I have ever heard on anything.

There's a hint of the Caracella silk, but Langford is a much bigger unit than Blake and will be even more so once he fills out a bit more.

Caracella at the same age snagged 25 goals in his first year of senior football and averaged 17 touches. Different game and all but their output is a long way apart at this early stage.

Do you think Langford can get anywhere near those numbers this year? It'd be a mighty effort.

He'll average in between 15-20 disposals, doubt anyone bar Daniher is a certainty for 25+ goals. It's possible Edwards, Mckernan and Grimley could reach the total too though.

I'm not too confident on the goal kicking but I'd say 17 disposals is reachable for langford.

Blake Caracella was 20 when he made his debut in his third season on Essendon's list. Langford will still be a teenager for another 9 months.

Difference is that Caracella spent most of his first two years playing VFL footy - Lets compare apples with oranges.

I really liked that bit of play on the outter wing where he chose to stay calm and hit up a target. As insignificant as it seems, shows his composure translates at the top level, definite lock for an upgrade.

Continued to look at ease in heavy traffic against a much better opponent this week.

Going to need a add a few more kgs to the frame before he can get away with some of the stuff he tries.

It's a mark of a pretty special player to be able to find as much space in congestion as he does.

Once he gets enough power in his legs to be able to break through tackles he will go to another level. Good to see he's not a liability in games now, which shows a good amount of development and improvement has occurred.

I think also like the team they have had a 6 day break with no real experience around them. Langers had a pretty sound 1st half couple of clearances in the last, and what i like is he will take a tackle not panic unlike a lot of players. I would now just play him

Got better the longer the game went - One or two of his ground ball pick ups were breathtaking - Will never be a high possession getter but will get full value each time.

Has gotten better with every quarter hasn't he?

Still a bit reactive but he's got such quick reflexes it doesn't matter that much.

Not convinced that he is a starter for round 1 though.

I think it was the heat today because he didn't actually improve on last week's performance. He was slow getting rid of the ball and wasn't as agile thru traffic like against Carlton. But I'm sure he'll bounce back strongly next game.

Thought he was better this week - For me he is on the fringe - In that group of last 4 in the 22.

I find it comical that there are expectations of the kid to become a gun afl mid when hes never done that at junior level.

Bonafide afl mids dont struggle for double digit possessions in there second year.

Heppell, zach merrett recent examples.

Our last 10 years is all about trying to convert a hbf into a midfielder and failing. Seems to be an obsession with our recruiters and supporters.

One day we'll get lucky. Hang in there

I watched Laverde and Langford through their TAC and School. Langers dominated in tbe mid with his game reading endurance and smarts 30 poss AGSV vs APS final . That was a different game. In TAC he played CHF and dominated.

For him to be recognised to have the potential to play mid afl is significant. Laverde very similar story and you will see Laverde being a starting mid in 12 month are thereabouts and able to play through the forward. Dont get csught up comparing them to anyone. Focus on what they are doing now and realistically where they will be in 18 months.

Heppel Zac are shorter and this position of mid will all way be more natural .

A mid of Heppell- Merrett Parish Langford Lavede not so bad plus plus

Not so bad.

Deliberate understatement?
