Got better the longer the game went - One or two of his ground ball pick ups were breathtaking - Will never be a high possession getter but will get full value each time.

You and I will be at odds on this, but I'd be looking more and more at Langford playing on a wing and in the middle as much as possible . I like him in traffic and on the ball that much, it also gives us the space to play three big forwards (Daniher, McKernan and Grimley) with 1 or 2 other spots for a combination of players like McKenna, Edwards, J. Merrett, Eades and Stokes as the smalls to keep the ground level pressure high.

I want to see more of Grimley but he needs to move more - I'd prefer a forward line of JD and McKernan as the talls, Langford/Crowley/Laverde as the hybrid talls, and the smaller players being a combination of Stokes, Eades, J.Merrett etc.

I do see Langford being a midfielder in the long term.

Needs to watch what Pavlich does this year. Fremantle are basically swapping Pav and Fyfe midfield forward. 1 in the middle the other forward. Fyfe to spend a bit more time mid and pav more time forward then that 50/50 split.

I think ours will be a Waston/Langford combination.

Pavs going to play more mobile this year behind Taberner key forward and their 2nd forward/resting ruck (Griffen/Clarke for them) ours will be Mckernan, Maybe Grimely might push ahead or we look like we will play all 3. 2017 is when he will be that 3rd forward swapping onball with Jobe though.

Correctamundo.

Has too many moments of ball watching and freezing up with ball in hand for mine. Its a trait that kills most young AFL players careers.

Some hang in there with athletic ability and height.

Still got plenty of time on hands but he's a worry at the moment imo.

Those three Gifs show some class

Not even the classiest things he did from the game. His handball from congestion for Goddards goal from the pocket in the third, and his release to Mckenna mid tackle which set up an inside 50 in the last were Watson like. The kid is quality.

Dare I say he displays Pendleburyest slow-down-time movement with the pill in hand..never looks rattled or panicked.

Fingers crossed we can say that after he's played a full strength Hawthorn/Sydney/any team that put manic pressure on the ball carrier.

Will be an interesting one to watch this year... his good looks real good but just keen to see more consistency around:

Decision making - can blaze away a bit I think
Aggression at the contest - understandable for a 1 year player but this can be ok or poor
Ability to stay strong in the contest and 2nd / 3rd efforts.
Disposal - bit up and down.

A lot of positives to work with though and hopefully he gets a chance to get another 15 - 18 games under his belt this year.

Yes indeed. Against that Carlton side everyone looked good. I can see him playing every game this year. By next year..look out!

Currently has no position in AFL, doesn't get it enough and not a natural footballer.

Huge concerns for me at this point in time. Be interesting to see how much progress he makes this year.

Langford and Laverde forward or in the middle?

Essendon Football Club
Both boys have shown some real strength inside in the midfield. Langford's decision making and clean hands are exceptional for a second year player. Laverde is a bull when is inside. Both are good overhead when they go forward, so it would be a bit of 50/50

Birthday 1/12/96 hes grown, put on muscle so he has to adjust to that as well. He'll be a very decent player.
I see Caracella in this kid. He is still pretty green but every now and then he does something nice. I liked the way he moved in traffic against Carlton. Good clean hands and looked like he had time. He is going to be a big boy when he has finished developing.

I used to love watching Mercuri, Langford is on his way to having that same affect on me.
love when he has the ball as you just know he is quality.
