There is an article in todays Advertiser, discussing the Gold Coasts potential to raid uncontracted players in 2011. The articles is heavily based on Kurt Tippett.

It states:

If Tippett or Moran are tempted by the so called "go-home" factor Adelaide's compensation will be a draft pick decided on a complex formula based on four points, including best-and-fairest ratings.

Adelaide would have five years to use its compensation pick - and have to nominate at the start of a season when it wants to activate this pick.

Trigg said that he would have preferred Gold Coast to have been handed any extra 16 drat picks in 2010 draft - and fr Clayton to auction these picks for uncontracted players

What is this 4-point system?

And does the draft pick come from the collection that the Gold Coast already have?

From memory, something like this:

1) Age of the player
2) Current salary, in rank of existing club
3) Player accolades; B&F's, etc.
4) Home location of player?? (ie: would it be more of a compensation if GC gets a non-QLD player, as compared to a player that originates from another state?)
