He should be, but at the moment there’s very little hurt factor about him. The opposition know this and are going to the catalyst which is now Simpkin.

Spot on.

People think I'm being harsh but I've been very disappointed with Higgins' year, regardless if stats might suggest otherwise.

Let's get it to 50/50 this week

Another player who we have kept on for too long, we gave 2 years extension where we should have played hardball and let him go to geelong. Nonetheless, him at half back to finish off his career like heath shaw.

He's had a poor year but he's a young 31yo.

Missed so much footy in early days I think the contract length was fine considering his ability.

Plus until we have anyone else other than Polec capable of running faster than a snowplough and kicking it within 5 metres of a target he stays.

First time we've gotten a former opposition player to 100 games in nine years. Reinforces the idea that we've not been able to target good young players from other clubs. Or they've gotten injured a lot. Anderson will probably make it to 100. Polec is listed until he's 40 so he should too. Jacobs would have made it if not for his decapitation.

No wonder he's struggling to get over his injury. Hard to get back quickly after that.

We kept Boomer til he was 38.

Goldy is getting old as well. Wanna get rid of him too?

If they're old but still play great footy, that's actually a massive benefit for younger players.

Ummm Higgins is not playing good footy......hardly making an impact....

At the time he signed he'd just finished a year where only 10 blokes finished ahead of him in the Brownlow despite practically missing 6 games. Whilst his form is currently not as good it's not that bad. And even if it was, Rhyce didn't have a crystal ball last October that told him what 2020 would be for anyone. At the moment the call was made it was a sound one. It still is.

He was also top ten in the Syd missing those games having won it the year before.

Higgins is playing a new role and I think adjusting okay to it. He needs to be our classy rebound off half-back. Takes him out of the collision zone making the game less taxing on his body, covers an area of glaring weakness for us, and provides the opportunity for our young guns to step up into midfield roles. Higgins might still get another contract after this one.

Higgo's perfect spot now is to be running off half back - using his kicking skills and general awareness to set us up from back there.

We have a real weakness in that area and he has the right skill set to fix it.

He could do that for another 2 years.

We need to be playing the Bonar's, Ahern's in the middle to see what they have - not Higgo anymore.

Yes Bonar. Not Ahern, think we have seen his ceiling
