I went with maybe. We've played the clear 3 worst teams in the league throughout that period and did what we needed against them.

A better reflection of our record, IMO, is what we've done against AFL quality opposition which currently has us at 1-2 with a 80-90% so yeah we've started solidly and we've built some confidence, but it's all relative ATM.

One mans opinion though.

Last nights game was effectively over after 10 minutes (isn't it amazing how so many games are decided by the quarter time scores?) the rest of the game saw us dominate for 50 or so minutes and them dominate for 40....so in the end it turns out a loss that looks bad but has clear portents. We looked like an unbalanced side last night, Geelong prepared really well and took the initiative with moves both at the selection table (Stevie J never plays a bad game against Collingwood...so no more sub for him) and then they took the initiative with their "in game"moves. Blicavs to Pendles (masterstroke)....Duncan as the prime mover rather than Selwood (we never woke up) Stanley running as an extra midfielder from the ruck (will need to be watched if he doesn't get injured). Harry Taylor paid White or Grundy no notice as forwards and just played loose all night, Hawkins on Frost must have been licking his lips! Losing Seedsman's run and carry and Ramsays improved ball use out of defence really isolated Marley Williams and Tooves last night and we turned over the ball a lot in the first half.
So our coaching staff will KNOW what went wrong (in terms of matchups and decision making) and they will know that we'll need to be more agressive both on the ground and in coaching initiatives in coming games. In previous weeks our endeavour for the ball or the ball carrier has belied many of our imbalances.

I guess so, but the 4 teams we've beaten sit 9th, 16th, 17th and 18th on the ladder, our victories havn't exactly been against quality opposition. If anything we're flat track bullies, able to look good against weaker sides but can't put up a fight against the good ones.
This is true to a point, but it is where we have to start. The part I disagree with is the putting up a fight part. We have done that in both losses, even though the games looked (and were) unwinnable. Gaining the capacity to withstand those withering bursts, and keep the opposition from scoring too heavily when they have the upper hand is the challenge for the team. Experience.
