A victim of the quagmire that is our dismal VFL side, or just playing really poorly?
Hard to know.
But either way, he’s regressed rapidly.
Close up he worked very hard in a dismal team , at times even with the wind they would bomb it too himA victim of the quagmire that is our dismal VFL side, or just playing really poorly?

Lot of pressure on Hanily this season. He will have his work cut out to be able to get another contract with Rosas (and Dattoli) having arrived at the club. I think we have room for that many small forwards but if Hanily hasn't broken through and/or isn't showing a lot, they may decide it's time to move on to someone with more upside.

I think everyone is sleeping on Hanily, shown plenty of upside and as of now still a mile ahead of Dattoli. He'll be a long term player for us. Papley isn't going to hang around forever and Hanily is in a similar mould, he'll be a jet once he's more up to speed with the game at the highest level.Lot of pressure on Hanily this season. Definitely at risk at season's end. Hope he shows enough. Not easy in VFL. Hopefully he will have a decent tall or two to work with.Love the vote of confidence! And agree about wanting a possible heir to Papley in the wings and that that potentially that could be Hanily. But not sure I'm seeing the same level of performance on-field as you are. He's had some ok games, including at AFL level, but overall he hasn't impressed that much. He's still young and can definitely improve further, but I guess my point is that I think he's going to have to manifest a significant chunk of that improvement this season. If Dattoli and Rosas go past him we may decide the next shiny young thing is a better bet long term. He's not a tall player and short players don't get the same patience to prove themselves.

Interesting that all of the small guys are a bit different - not one the same as another.
A lot of it is selfish play, blazing the ball over the half-forward line straight to a defender. "Oh look! I got a kick." That's why Lloyd looked so much better when he went back. Found targets. Florent didn't.Been ultra hard to impress in our putrid VFL side who have this amazing ability of never kicking the thing forward. I get this defensive structure thing, but can we please give forwards a chance? He's not the only one either, Dattoli was quiet in some games, Bowman invisible, and our other forwards are maybe 2-3 goals at most if they play. You'd be expecting these forwards to be kicking 5 plus not 2 and getting calling up to the AFL.
This is coaching though
