Not much to report on with JK, only integrating into full training now after his foot surgery last year.

Has settled back into Melbourne really well and is in a far better place mentally than he was 6 months ago at Sydney. Hopefully that extra family support will result in improved output onfield this season.

He's great. Really like him. Such a Shinboner already. Doesn't get a lot of it but is damaging when he does. Just what we need.

If he can create turnover, stoppages or put pressure on the ball use coming out of our F50 then it's a massive upgrade on what we've had in the past(which is nobody).

Can you tell if the lack of accumulation due to positioning flaws or the nature of being a small forward? Because if he's struggling to be where the ball is during intraclub kickabouts, he's gonna be fighting an uphill battle if he gets anywhere near the senior side

I think he gets enough of it for the position he plays. I probably should have clarified that. He got about as much of it as Curtis did and had roughly the same impact. Good signs.

I’m gonna give him the good bloke thumbs of approval too, he spent a good five minutes chatting to my 6yo at training a few weeks back, mostly about what he got for Christmas (my kid, not JK). Little touches that make a kids day, especially a kid raised watching a pretty ordinary footy club. He’s certainly settled in, I want him to make it as we all do.

That's all grand but seriously, what did Jacob get for Christmas?

He averaged 5.8 tackles per game in his top age Coates League season. Finished the season with the 2nd most tackles in the comp (81). That defensive pressure will be the foundation of his game, and it is desperately needed in our AFL side. I think while he develops the tank to sustain his pressure efforts, any offensive output will be a bonus.

Really keen to see how he starts the season off as he is noticeably stronger/bigger compared to his time at Sydney.

These are the sort of things that will go along way to helping the fledgling Filth Apprentice to move on from Goldy as his favourite player.

Which is good as I know he battled early preseason niggles.
