"Unlike many inside midfielders, Waterman plays the percentages and rarely blindly bombs the ball, always ensuring he hits targets, often with serious metres gained.
On the outside Waterman is able to effectively contribute. While he has well below average speed, he has a high endurance base and is able to work his opponent over and find space."

Well these two lines are what stands out for me! Very happy to read these sort of attributes. Look at Sam Mitchell, not fast on the run but makes quick and correct decisions. Fast by hand or by penetrating kicking. Not saying Waterman = Mitchell but slower mids who make good decisions in close and helps the team get and maintain possession are essential players to have.

So Waterman is a Priddis type inside mid but at 18 places value on hitting targets by hand first and doesn't bomb blindly.:)

Cool, it only took our Brownlow Medal winning centre-man 6>7 years to learn this.:thumbsu:

Waterman is now the proud owner of guernsey number 42. Let's hope it brings him the same luck that it did to McG in his breakout year in 2014.

"Midfielder Alec Waterman will don the #42 vacated by McGovern, while former baseballer Corey Adamson (45), the club’s first Irish rookie Paddy Brophy (#46) and Carlton recruit Kane Lucas (#47) will look to carry those numbers into action."

Alec appeared to have a good game over the weekend for East Perth, playing the majority of his time in the middle.

"New draftees Alec Waterman and Liam Duggan were also on show. Waterman played well throughout the match, spending the majority of the night on the ball."

Fingers crossed he can find some form for East Perth early in the season to push his case for elevation to the seniors. By all reports his tank has improved over the course of the pre-season, and with his strong build and good skills, hopefully we can see him show his wares for the Eagles early in the season.

East Perth vs East Freo (21st March) WAFL summary:

Alec made his WAFL seniors debut over the weekend against East Freo and performed admirably considering how dismal the East Perth team played overall. Muddy Jr collected 18 disposals (9 kicks, 9 handballs) along with 3 marks and 2 tackles in a solid display. The highlights of his game were definitely his strength in contested situations, and his willingness to run until exhaustion in order to provide an option for his teammates. His disposal was solid, without being exceptional. Definitely an area he can improve on.

Considering it was his WAFL league debut, it was an encouraging display first up by Muddy. I am looking forward to seeing him line up for the Eagles as the season progresses.

East Perth vs Swan Districts - Round 2 WAFL summary:

Stats: 26 disposals (12 kicks, 14 handballs), 5 marks, 2 tackles and 2 goals.

While there was no East Perth WAFL telecast this week, Alec appeared to have a great game against Swan Districts picking up 26 disposals and netting a couple of goals. According to reports his clearance work was excellent, and to have impacted on the scoreboard was obviously a big positive.

I'm really excited by Muddy Jr, he has put in two excellent performances in his first two WAFL seniors games. If he keeps this up, surely a West Coast debut is not far away.

Muddy Jr played no football over the weekend, with a report suggesting it was a minor quad strain. Fingers crossed it is actually minor, given that the Eagles have had a poor recent history in the management and reporting of injuries.

"Developing midfielder Alec Waterman, who missed last weekend’s round of fixtures with a low grade quad strain, should also be ready to resume after the Royals’ bye"
