Jordan Zanchetta is a really exciting footballer from Brisbane. She played 14 games with the Lions in the AFLW before being delisted, and she’s moved to Melbourne to hopefully break back into the AFLW system next season. She’ll be available for round one.”

Woohoo! AFLW player 💪

Zanchetta joined the Bombers’ VFLW program ahead of the 2022 season, bringing with her AFLW experience from her four seasons at the Brisbane Lions.

Zanchetta is known for her tough work through the midfield, especially with her ability to extract the ball at stoppages and quickly move it into attack.

Throughout her 10 VFLW games this year, Zanchetta has averaged 20.6 disposals, 11.5 handballs and 9.1 kicks per game.

Achilles injury - not available in round 1
Jordan’s running volume and speed are progressing well following an achilles injury. She is slowly building towards full capacity but won’t be available for selection for round one.

That's a bit surprising isn't it?
AFLW list management is ruthless.. symptom of having only 30 spots and 6 month contracts, you don't have room for injuries or second chances.

I don't think she benefited from being injured throughout the pre-season and missing the first couple of rounds, but at least she played a few games. Others are delisted without playing any

That said, there's only an over-age draft between now and next season, not a full draft, and they haven't said anything about a trade period. Would be a bit much to have three in two years. Not sure what they've got in mind, perhaps the injury replacements have earned full spots on the list

If there were a trade period would she still have had value?
