Will never happen because he is not attack enough, but am I wrong in thinking that he should actually win the rising star outright?

Is beating #2 forwards every week comfortably and doesn't make many mistakes at all as a 20 year old.
and he is surprisingly attacking as well. Even Rance did not develop his offensive game for a number of years after his debut.

No issue with McGrath, SPP or Burton winning it. All 3 have played all season for their respective clubs.

Melican is a gun though!

Yeh a rising star nomination is deserved. Who could have predicted this guy would become such a solid player already. Riewoldt is cooked atm with his knees so there is something of a caveat, but Melican was fantastic all over the ground. A young KPD might be intimidated playing on such a great player to just stand shoulder to shoulder with him and worry about that match up only, but it was like he smelled blood and knew he could beat him and then run off to create. Fantastic game.

Just 12 games now?

He has come along unbelievably well in the firsts.

With Sydney's lock down style of defence i can't see Aliir taking Melican's position any time soon

Should get a Rising Star nomination.
Now officially nominated after his game against the Saints. Well deserved.

Round 18 Rising Star: Lewis Melican

Beat N Riewoldt. Yet another rookie success, with backline buds Rampe, Grundy, Lloyd, Newman and Smith.
