Like I said last year, this is the best trade in we've made for years. Arguably since Judd.

Body holds up and he's gonna be a ripper.

I wanted Shiel for that outside weapon to complement Cripps (and to add a senior body to the midfield mix) but when we got Setters, I was just as happy.

Probably more so.

83 minutes time on ground for the game - second lowest overall (both teams) with the lowest being Balta.

24 disposals and all those other crucial efforts over this short time... unbelievable!

Cripps by comparison (hard to compare against Tractor Mk2 I know, but just for context) had 112 minutes on the ground. Murphy with 109, Walsh with 103. Dow with 96 after understandably fading in the last.

Point is, Setters knows innately where the ball will go and hunts it down with Bont-like intent, and resembles Pendles in traffic with his composure.

Could see during the hawks practice match, Will has really got it. People forget that GWS were super high on him in the 2018 pre season before he did his knee. Super excited for what he can produce throughout the year.

Best crop of young midfielders coming through at the same time we have ever had
The chance through development of adding Silvagni-mid Williamson-wing Pickett-wing/mid Garlett -wing in the midfield and across the wings. Also the unknown of who else we bring in over the next 2years only adds to the excitement of what's ahead.

Just a little smaller than Pat, our other young champ midfielder, both immensely talented, excellent another great acquisition along with Newman, they were very good last night.

Once Setters fills out and matures say 50 games, look out.
Hw won’t need 50 games to make an impact.

Fantastic game when you think of it. And he really got tested physically. Could have gone into his shell a few times. But he got up and went hard at it again each time. Puts the team first.
saw him get crunched and bounce back up - would have put the wafl haircut on the lti list - we are bringing in the right size footballers at last.......

Yup. Setterfield coming from much further back from conditioning POV.

But they had similar output for game 1, which means I think Setterfield will edge him once they're both fit.
Setters is no-where near his peak aerobic capacity or size coming off his knee. Walsh OTOH wont get too much fitter (already a machine) but has a lot of room to fill out while maintaining his already elite tank.

Walsh will always have Setters for link play and second efforts; his give and go is already top notch. I reckon Setters will pip Walsh for power inside and marking once he fills out.

Both boys just need a few years in the system now, and a couple of good preseasons.

Wow ... and that is truly something when you compare it to the boys coming through in the mid - late 70’s.

2nd favourite for Rookie of the Year (after Walsh). I rate Walsh but actually think Setterfield will have a better season if both stay healthy.
Walsh is far more talented, Setterfield has the x factor and athleticism though, but coming back from a serious injury I think his form will be more volatile than Walsh's who I see as being more consistent and averaging 20-25 touches a game.

Either way it's a pretty nice position to be in having the 1st and 2nd favourites for the Rising Star both in the one team.
