Pretty impressive when he got it. Looked a good mover. I also think he is about 188 cm, looks a pretty big unit. When he has a big pre season of weights it'll be exciting.

Kicked 2 Goals 2, 12 touches, 4 marks and 3 i50's in 194 pt win over Peel:D

From the west about Weedon's performance today:

Gerrick Weedon, in just his second senior appearance, produced some magical moments.

Considering his lack of a pre-season and the fact that he probably was used sparingly under instruction from West Coast, I think regardless of the result, that's what we want from him.

Those stats aren't too impressive given Claremonts dominance in that game. If anything he should've done more.

Why is that so ridiculous? Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not unhappy with those stats, but in a game where his side won by 194 points, they're not hugely impressive.

This part is ridiculous.

Perspective, Claremont won by 194 points.
Perspective, It was his second WAFL game after having zero preseason.

:thumbsu:

Magical Moments is what our team needs. The only player at the moment who provides it for us is Naitinui.

On a side not I'm really hoping Swift goes to that next level to produce magical moments as well.

I can't wait to see Weedon debut, any chance of it happening later this year?

Depends how we are playing if we keep playing like crap, he might debut earlier then some people think.

Maybe that was a bit overboard. I'm happy with those figures, and I think that's a perfectly adequate performance given his senior experience and pre-season. However, given how much Claremont won by, you wouldn't have wanted hm to get anything less than that, which is why I said if anything he should've done more.

Without having seen the game, those figures are probably somewhat held back by the large amount of time Gerrick probably spent on the bench. Considering it was only his 2nd league game, stoked with his stats :thumbsu: let's hope he keeps his rapid improvement up.

For those that have seen him play does he have the attributes to be a full time midfielder as well as a forward ..... heard people say he is a good inside player, priddis replacement perhalps ????

I played year of footy with this guy along with another 4-5 clontarf players. Before he was playing claremont colts

Wasn't used as a midfielder. Primarily as a centre half forward mainly due to his height lol. Pinched hit in the ruck at times too. But played his best as a mobile key position forward.

This is the write up snoop dog did in the bigfooty mock draft for 2009

Cannot believe this kid has fallen to here. Suspect maybe bc he hasnt been seen much out of WA. Was a member of the WA u18 side but didnt feature a great deal. I seriously considered him at #30 and wouldnt be surprised at all if he went much earlier than #65. Was DC invite so a number of clubs have obviously seen him and think he has a heap of scope for improvement.

Since Champs the kid has come along a long way in his performances for Claremont. Really nice height at 186cm and typically plays as an outside HF or FP type. Goalkicker who is creative and can attack and defend when the balls coming out. He could easily go into the midfield and has rotated thru there for Claremont where his awareness and decision making, ball winning, foot and hand skills and pressuring around the contest will serve him well.

As a player he reminds of a leaner Daniel Motlop. He has that cat like movement and swoops on the ball. His poise and balance are terrific and he just seems to have so much more time than those around him. He will be a difficult match up 1:1. he will win in the air and the ground so he is going to be hard to match up as he fills out a bit.

As you can tell I am a huge fan and would be desperate for the Pies to nab him at some stage. I have attached some vision I found today for those that havent seen him before;

Others considered;

Was desperately keen for an inside mid at #30 and went for Carey over Thomas. Split only bc in the games I have seen of Carey he has been terrific and Josh's performance havent been as good. Wanted to hit Temel at 59 bc I thought a few would be hovering then and he wouldnt last til my last choice. I would have taken Weedon then anyway so it worked out. For the last selection I was either going to go a tall defender which I suspect the Pies will look for with one of their last two picks and Grimes was the player that I would have taken (amazed still here). However with Weedon and Sumner available who have terrific upside IMO I just couldnt go past them. Sumner was very close as I think he has a few tricks. Ledin, Hooper were others in the mix.

I doubt Swift will ever be a magical moments type guy.

Really?!

I know his form has been poor this year, but he had plenty of great highlights last season in only his first year at AFL after missing out on a lot of football in previous years.
