The story of McKernan, glimpses of brilliance but then fades. I watched the R1 win over Hawthorne today and he was massive in that game as first ruck against McEvoy, a few weeks later back to the 2s due to form.

What we've seen is exactly the same as what the Crows supporters saw, he's a tease unfortunately.

He wasn't back in the 2's due to form, Burger was fit and seen as our number 1 ruckman, i liked Mckernans follow up work and general around the ground game over Burgers. Burgers 6cm taller than him, Bellys 4cm taller but 8kgs heavier, he's 3rd inline for a ruck spot

It's just mental, has all the tools but he just lacks umm.. he's , he's like how Keanu Reeves acts...

Funny that his brother was the complete opposite, firey passion, heart on sleeve
You reckon?

Corey was more consistent but I think that was largely because he had a genuine position - he was a bona fide ruck. Was a massive confidence player though - could clunk it like nobody else or not get near it in a given game. I always saw as mentally fragile.

Seemed to have huge highs and huge lows but you saw every bit of them on his face and in his actions. Smack just seems to have the one default sunken eyed hang dog expression

He's probably the most perplexing player we've had in my 30 odd years of following the club. Makes the difficult seem easy and the easy seem impossible.

I think if he were proper ruck size he'd be fantastic but unfortunately so much of his height is neck. Not sure there's a role for him outside the rookie list into the future but he's certainly provided some entertainment

I like him and have always wanted him in the side...

I'd like to see what he's like after 2 seasons in the best 22, i think there is a lot of upside. He plays well in the midfield, gets a lot of the ball and kicks some nice goals, a good natural footballer with stamina and skills.

Reminds me of an Allessio stylee.

The biggest worry for me with McKernan is his discipline. He gives away stupid free kicks/50 metre penalties, especially in the ruck. I'm very nervous when he goes near a player for that reason.

We can't afford to concede unnecessary free kicks against a side like Sydney

He's like the Joe Daniher........of the VFL.

Can do the freakish at that level.

I don't know if we will keep him on our list. As long as its on the rookie list - I'm pretty OK either way.

He's played his role in the few AFL games he's had this year without starring. Can play ruck or forward to a decent depth level. Is outsized in the ruck though at AFL level.

I still wouldn't mind getting another 200cm rookie ruck but I understand if we opt to just keep McKernan and focus on other things at the draft.

I see him as a kind of break glass in case of emergency guy.

Gets another year for mine: would even consider moving him into the senior list. If we could get him fitter he could play a role as an over sized midfielder. Hey why not?

good spare parts guy to cover the Hooker/ Stewart / 3rd Ruck, Ruckrover / midfield smasher

Get angry and hungry you long necked muppet.

Ive got a soft spot for him but he's had a lot of chances and we need more from players that have been around for as long as Shaun.

His best is good enough and his worst is unacceptable and well bellow AFL standard. To persist has a bit of the Henneman/Steinbergs about it for mine.

Play him in the midfield?? Again with the midfield. Everyone is a potential midfielder, aren't they?

I like mckernan, I reckon he has some great attributes, he's a good kick athletic and takes a good mark however goes missing too much in games and for mine Mckernan is strictly backup.
As backup he is OK as a third forward who can hopefully kick one or two a game and pitch hit in the ruck. He's cheap as well.
He's our fourth tall forward on our list. So had one of our first three had a long I jury could've played a large chunk of the year.
I say keep him as tall depth unless someone better is available, but later on in the draft it's pot luck.

Is he going to replace Hooker this week?

Not sure but i don't want a zero impact player like Lav playing in the fwd line when this guy, with all his faults can kick goals.

If Hooker isn't playing, I would drop Lav and bring him in.
