TBC only ever puts in every third week or so and Leuey is an embarrassment with ball in hand. Pick draper as the #1.

We're not going to be a better performed team with Draper and I don't see his development being assisted playing as a number 1 ruck when he's not physically ready for it (and he was dwarfed by both TBC and Leuey in the intra club).

Draper is coming along nicely but I'd much rather that he round out his development playing ruck and forward in the reserves with the odd game here and there in the AFL as it is deserved. He'll end up picking himself at some point in the not too distant future.

For someone who hates Collingwood as much as you claim you certainly see the world very black and white.
I can acknowledge there are shades of gray. I don't believe players are either guns or crap. McKernan however is crap. Look at his record, it's as clear as day that he is simply a poor footballer.

Also never claimed to hate Collingwood.
"Recently" being how he was okay in a practice match and an experimental game that nobody is really sure will work or not? I'll take my eye test in what he does during the season, where he plays one okay game followed by 3-4 crap games.

A crap footballer does not have games where he is one of the top 3 dominant players on the field. He has done this numerous times in both the AFL and the VFL and even the mickey mouse of a game AFLX. His issue is confidence and focus, not talent and certainly not athletic ability.
A crap footballer doesn't last as long as he does in this league with many people vastly more qualified in their opinion then a casual fan giving him chances to string together consistently the good form he has shown he is capable of.

He is inconsistent which explains his playing record but it shouldn't be a basis to call someone low talent or crap without that statement being questioned.

Poor footballer as in he hasn't capitalised on his obvious talent? Sure. Lets go with that.

McKernan should just never be a #1 ruck unfortunately. He's meant to be the back up - mobile third tall in a line up. I think he is more than serviceable in this role. I just don't ever really remember him being played in that position and Stewart does it far better as of right now. Great depth to have in the list, don't expect him to see much of the line up this year.

Pros: Can jump, can mark contested, can kick it like a mule, can tackle hard, can do the freakish

Cons: lacks belief, needs confidence- loses all of the pros as a result of one con.

Net result: Believe in him, play him for an extended time and he may prosper - drop him or put him on a revolving door selection policy and consider him ruined and worthless.

McKernan is shit. End of.
Mckernan would probably be a solid player for most teams outside of the eight. He is entirely serviceable as a second ruck, part time forward. Not great, but not crap. He has shown that much at AFL level i think.
It's one of those things isn't it? Is a player crap if they are not good enough to hold a place in a top eight team? I'd say not. It's the players who can't hold a place in a bottom eight team that i guess earn that title.

It’s funny, I just watched the usual suspects again and at the end Verbal Kint says ‘the greatest trick McKernan ever pulled was convincing everyone that his talent exists’

My mind was blown, it’s been right in front of me the whole time

He also has pretty low awareness.

He's been in the system 10 years now and averages 5 games a year. He's shit.
He is not shit. He is just too short to play the position that suits him the best. The fact he has been in the system for 10 years shows he is not shit.
And shit players do not get into the system! Shit players play Div 4 seconds ! Players may not be up to the level but you have to be well above average to be drafted.

As I said, there is an in between. McKernan isn't one of them.

I never said he was low on talent either, I said he was crap/shit/whatever adjective you want to us, which he is.

A crap footballer is a guy that doesn't consistently play at an average or an above average level. Of his 50 games, how many would be rated as poor or worse? From what I've seen, probably around the 30 mark. Which shows that he is a crap footballer.
Mckernan would probably be a solid player for most teams outside of the eight. He is entirely serviceable as a second ruck, part time forward. Not great, but not crap. He has shown that much at AFL level i think.

No, he wouldn't. He's a soon to be 28 year old (keeping in mind he wasn't a mature aged entrance to the AFL) who averages 5 games a year. Please tell me I'm not the only one who can tell that he's simply not up to AFL level? Everyone's optimism is based on half a good season 3 years ago surrounded by overwhelmingly bad form!
He is not shit. He is just too short to play the position that suits him the best. The fact he has been in the system for 10 years shows he is not shit.

Obviously it's all relative. If he came down to my local club he'd walk straight into the ones as a ruckman and dominate, but he's crap at AFL level. It's as simple as that.
