I love us giving this kid a chance however trying to think has any of these indigenous kids who have had issues turned things around? Seems to be so many cases where clubs have come in to help them however never seems to work out. Happy to be proven wrong and all for giving him a go.

Normally though it ends up they don't want to leave their family or support group and end up going home because the city isn't for them or they have bigger issues.

I've never seen someone say 'I want to move interstate and get away from my issues' like Stack did in previous articles, he also said getting dropped from the u18 spurred him to work harder and earn u18 AA selection so hopefully missing the draft inspires him.

We also have a great support group for him, we drafted one of his WA teammates and living with Dimma has helped the likes of Dan Rioli and he will have Rioli and people like shane edwards and shai bolton and the Korin Gamadji Institue all at the club. I think if he is going to succeed then there is no better place than Richmond.

Agree we are best placed of any club to help this kid however he’s going to need to really want it. Time will tell.

Stack was playing well in the WAFL, I doubt he is completely a lost cause.

Odds of success with this are small. He will try his best but the capacity to consistently turn up and give sufficient effort and focus will be a real challenge for him.
He might do great for a month but then he's back home for Xmas and will need to find his own discipline.
Having said that, I love that we're giving it a go. Stack gets an opportinity to transcend the difficulties of his upbringing and we get a free swing at a great talent.
Good luck kid - hope you can find your way to making the most of this chance.

That’s what I think. He will be all good until he goes home for a holiday and then it could go to shit pretty quick.

In NZ when talking about problems with youth crime cycles and ingrained poverty one thing came up a lot. They called it the lobster trap, in that when lobsters get caught in a trap and one looks like finding a way out the others will pull them back in.

With Maori and PI at risk youth, workers would see it all the time, if a kid looked like making a future for himself family and friends would actively sabotage them and drag them back into that lifestyle. Talking to people working in Aboriginal development programs they say they see the same thing all the time and often themselves the target of such abuse.

Pretty sure I did one of those 'what's your pornstar name' quizzes you get in a moment of weakness and I was Sydney Stacked.
So you had a pet named Sydney and you lived in Stacked street?
