I'm not a sports scientist, but I'd imagine it's almost impossible to plan for a pulled calf. If he was feeling soreness there then yep, give him a rest. Otherwise, rests are just used to minimise fatigue over a long season. If he was firing on all cylinders I see no need to rest him - or to phrase it better, I don't think a rest can necessarily prevent a pulled calf (it may even make one more likely - again, no expert).

LOL, he had a rest 5 weeks ago and will get another one in 4 weeks. Another overreaction.
Based on what? I'd trust the learned medico's thanks.

Other clubs fans / experts laud our medical team for a reason. Not all injuries are avoidable, it's as simple as that.
He didn't have a proper pre-season, he has just turned 19, every other draftee has had at least a week off except maybe Sam Walsh. If you expect him to run out games for 16 weeks straight (besides the bye) this is what happens. He's not superman. I tipped this would happen, it's bad management. Should have been rested.

This may come as a pretty big surprise so you might need to sit down.
Richmond Football Club have some of the best in the in this area. It’s not just a matter of a couple of blokes down the club saying “yeah **** it just keep him running she’ll be right!”

Yeah I’m pretty sure they hold off announcing signings sometimes until there are multiple people to report

or I assume sometimes a contract may be agreed to by all party’s but sometimes it takes time to get everyone in the same room logistically especially if a players manager is based interstate or they are still working out some of the extra clauses they may have

You don't take a rolls royce on a dirt road marathon race when that car has never been driven in official championships before.

He’s not a car.
Mate you’re absolutely kidding yourself if you think the people who are responsible for managing the players programs at Richmond don’t know what they’re doing. It’s literally timed to the minute and IF Stack is injured (let’s not forget this is a tweet at this stage) well he’s injured. It happens.

I think they know what they're doing but in this case they could have been a touch more prudent and they would probably agree with that assessment.

Need to wait and hear the prognosis but given his age and how close we are to finals, no point rushing him he's a long term player and we don't want to put undue risk on recurrence. Hopefully only 2-3 which would give him a couple of games back. If it's a 4-6 week though, might be more sensible to shut up shop for the year with him and let him focus on 2020.

Really hope it's just a short term thing.

Shut up shop? We need Stack playing finals, he's got 6 months to get over it if he gets injured in the finals.

Good news for the kid and bad luck for the kid all in one day. The beauty of Richmond is he gets a chance to recover and Makrov or Butler get a chance at it. Here’s hoping for a minor niggle.

I would the say the club 100% disagree with that assessment.

as Rodney Dangerfield said, the players are managed to within an inch of their life, if there was any sign of soreness he would have been rested ages ago.

sometimes niggles just happen out of nowhere.

The most common calf injury takes 4 weeks to recover from but hopefully it's a strain and he only misses one to two weeks. He should have been rested before this, it's bad management imo.
Agree...

Awesome news re his re-signing can’t believe the hair piece got it done before seasons end!!! Now onto Bolton
Hopefully the calf is minor they can be tricky things to get over.
What's the hair piece got to do with Sydney stack
