Burge on Stack:
"Stacky is still learning the caper. He has got some work to do with consistency of preparation. I am not going to mince my words there, he has still got a bit of work to do. He is a young player learning about his preparation, he has fantastic traits in his explosiveness and he’s highly skilled but he needs to work really hard on his conditioning"

IMO that's pretty disheartening, gives fuel to some thoughts that he probably didn't quite do the work or have the discipline in his time off training/diet wise.

Once again, ball is in his court as his talent is elite. The only thing that will keep him from being an elite player is his own application and how much he wants it.

not many make it on talent alone. If he doesn’t sort his shit out soon he’ll be gone

Good to get the honest statement out of the club. It is clearly a weakness with Sydney. It may always be. But he has months to prepare now in the pre-season and he has shown previously when at the club he can do what is required to get himself fit enough to thrive in matches.

At least he is there in the group. The last two years have shown that he is not one for self isolating and training by himself. He has been back in training a week or two, day one, something he has not done before.

4-5 months is enough to get fit as long as he doesn't slacken off to much over the xmas break, I'm sure the club will be on his case. He is not like most young footballers who live and breathe it, but he has the talent that 99% don't. Plenty of great footballers have been like that over the years.

This kid can honestly be anything the club wants. Fwd, Mid or back.
Last year he didn’t exactly have the best preparation and only coming into the team at round 17 and then played every game. 25 touches and 22 touches in round 20 & 21 shows that he was starting to find some form fairly quickly.

With a bit of confidence and a solid consistent position in the 22 he’ll blossom this year.
His 4th season and I can see him taking a big step forward. If he does then what a massive inclusion to our best 22 he’ll be.

Got all the tricks in the book, lovely kick, and doesn’t mind it physical. I know the club wants him to succeed. I think all Richmond supporters are very much in his corner and getting it right over this pre season is crucial.

A big call but, depending on the position the club goes with him I believe if he finds his best level of footy and Richmond are around the top 4 he can be an all Australian half back. Huge call but that’s the potential I see in this kid. Fingers crossed.

Oh yeah. A grade player as a small defender, forward or mid. If, big IF, he can get his sh*t together.

4th year and he's still not ready come pre-season.

He has 3-4 more months of preseason coming up. No suggestion that he has come back in awful shape, just maybe not up to standard. Some go very hard in the off season. Plenty of time left. Delidio said his biggest regret in footy was never turning off in the off season. They are all a bit different. If it was January yes be concerned, but it was half way through November.

he'll never have the diligence of a Cotchin or a Martin, therefore he may never reach those levels. However if it means he comes back a little underdone but we get the best of him in June July August for the next 5-6 years then that's what it is. Kids like Stack have the tendency to burn out and lose interest (hopfully not) But by all reports when he is there he works his arse off.

Year 1 to 3 Dusty also had that off season tag Stack has. Often he started preseason in not the best shape he could have been. In his 4th year he wised up let's hope stack does the same.

It doesn't take 7 months to get footy fit. Plenty of players come back in worse shape after operations this time of year and are in rehab until xmas or even later and are still easily ready to go round 1. By xmas he will have a solid 5-6 weeks of full training under his belt.

Agree with the burn out factor though. Reckon he needs to feed off the others to get motivated.

Will never learn.
It’s a shame for mine, it’s not so much about the fitness still plenty of time to get fit for the season but it’s about commitment

After the issues he has faced he needs to really start repaying the faith and trust the club has invested into him

We are coming off the best draft haul we have had in a very long time and if he isn’t putting the work in those kids will leapfrog him pretty quickly or at least they will get the nod at the selection table before stack

He is younger than rcd who still has no tank

Don't think the statement was that bad

Some people are happy enough to get it done tomorrow (which never comes)....
