I was in the camp that we need to wait until he tears the VFL apart, but then has he ever done that?

This kid rises to the occasion and his best footy has always been at AFL level.

Given Covid has struck him down he clearly wont be ready this week, but 1-2 games to get some run under his belt and get him in.
Don’t think he actually had covid just needed to isolate because he was a close contact but not 100% sure

When you have a team that is not running out games and getting overrun at the death, you don't seriously consider bringing in a guy with question marks over his fitness, who will be a liability and out of puff when the game is on the line in the fourth.

Maybe he should pull his finger out of his ass first and start playing like a AFL player and not a tik tok super star
starting to doubt he makes it these days.

Oh yeah and rioli that’s how you play in the backline!!!
Let me know when Stack has played 100 games like Drioli

Carl Peterson was a better player than Shane Edwards - How did that go for him ?

At this rate Stack is looking like he will be lucky to get to 100 games , His priorities doesnt appear to be football

Rioli had one good year in 17. He’s been given every opportunity and been very disappointing since.
Stacks first year was something else and I hope he can work his way back into the side and perform like that once again.

Still concerned it's an issue with how he is being coached :(
Worried that he'll leave, go to say the Bombers, and light it up as a forward in their (our) gameplan again.

Won’t happen. He doesn’t want it bad enough. Everyone knows it’s easier to play back rather than forward so no wonder he looks a bit better than year.

Doesn’t mind the pay packet, a lot more than Newstart

What are u on about?
All reports from Stack are he’s been training his ass off doing all the right things personally and team wise

Missed last week due to bullshit Covid close contact

Week before was playing defense, asked to go forward which had immediate impact with 2 goals and added a ton of pressure

Week before that was best on ground in 2nd half playing on the wing

So not sure why u saying his priority isn’t football when he’s really doing all he can on the park, just takes a little time to build his tank due to only doing his first pre season

Stack will be lucky to be on the list in 12 months time let alone reaching 100 games.

2017 was 5 years ago !!

he has played in another 2 premierships and 60+ games since
so disappointing that he is in our best 22 every week

Maybe you might be wrong ? or are the coaches and match committee wrong ?

Yeah exactly 5 years ago.
He’s been on the decline ever since. Why has he been dropped so many times since 17??
You’ve got no idea.

Your logic is a bit hard to follow Sol, you are pumping up Stacks tyres on what he has produced in recent years but canning Rioli. Rioli hasn't been perfect by any means but has he outperformed Stack - of course he has.

IMO stacks debut year off no pre season is better than anything rioli has produced. Mind you he hasn’t been afforded the endless opportunities rioli has either- some of his own doing of course.
Is that logic easy enough for you to digest?

No not really. You bias towards one player is pretty obvious. However I have seen that with your posts a lot so it doesn't surprise me.

How many players haven’t played VFL since the end of the 2017 season after previously playing well?

Graham Pickett Nankervis Baker Bolton Broad McIntosh Balta Butler Higgins Ellis Castagna have all done time there if I recall correctly.

About the only ones I can think who haven’t been placed in the VFL team at some point: Martin, Cotchin, Riewoldt, Lynch, Lambert, Vlastuin, Prestia, Grimes, Houli, Edwards, in other words likely our top 10 or so players on the payroll.

Pretty sure Short and Astbury have done some VFL time or scratch match time since then.

Rioli when fit has only been omitted based on performance for a handful of games. Since returning to the team mid season in 2018 after a long and serious injury, he has been left out of the team 9 times including injury, soreness, re-positioning to the backline and being omitted. He has probably been genuinely dropped for a total of 3-4 games and has been selected in every final. 3-4 games and no finals out of 80 odd games including 9 finals doesn’t exactly support your point, in fact it shows the selectors have a lot of faith in Dan Rioli.

Rioli gets a lot more opportunities than Stack because he works a lot harder than Stack. He doesn't come back to preseason out of shape every year.

Stack might be super talented, but he still has to earn his spot in the team, otherwise what message does that send to everyone else?
