Can you tell me what these issues were ?
My recollection is on 1 occasion he was influenced by Dan Connors and slept in and was late to training

anything else ?
There was the whole 'chopsticks' thing but I don't think anything ever came out that was credible. There had been unsubstantiated rumours about nightlife activities but again nothing credible.

I strongly disagree. Stack is not "plenty fit enough". He plays forward, so isn't covering midfield km. He goes missing for whole quarters, often just walking or jogging around on the fat side of the ground when the ball is pinging down the other wing. He is a multi-effort player at times, but he picks and chooses. He rarely follows up his kicks for the handball receive. He is not getting a lot of the football, he is not making a lot of tackles. He is carrying extra weight and looks like he is running through quicksand.

Daniel Rioli is fit. Shai Bolton is fit. Jason Castagna is fit. Sydney Stack is not fit.
I agree in part, but it is more attitude than fitness. I don't think he is all that invested in playing forward, and who could blame him, an entire season played in a position that is not suited to him. He has looked pissed off and times, when switched on he looks fit enough. He has not lost his speed because at times he is seriously fast, other times as you say not interested.

The original point stands, why hasn't he been afforded a run through the midfleld if they are not going to give him a half back role. That would certainly improve his fitness. But they give VFL players that privileged position that should be used to groom your AFL players. MRJ was almost every week and he has far less scope to play that role than Stack. Stack played wing in a preseason game and was considered one of the best on ground.

I will be pleasantly surprised if he signs the contract said to be on offer, but not surprised at all if his manager has not secured him another offer.

Great post. Stacky is so unsuited to the forward line its not funny. They gotta play him back or wing. He's talented as IMo, we just aren't getting the best out of him.

Half back is his best spot now, no doubt, but he should be a midfielder by next year if he gets serious. I cant believe they arent playing him in the midfield in the VFL. There are players that you want around the ball as much as possible, and he should be one.

He kicked 4 goals in his second game in the forward line I believe?
He is a natural forward and could be a toby green type of player.

I swear i must watch a different player to everyone. I cant recall ever seeing him playing as though hes disinterested or angry(apart from a few isolated incidents from in-game incidents here and there) certainly not an attitude thing
I agree in general but I think at times lately, especially after a few very good games and still in the VFL he looked a little peeved and disinterested. Good energy last week again which might put his name up for selection.

If the club is happy with Stack, and he is prepared to sign for an amount the can afford and he is worth, then why not sign him now before someone else comes knocking?

The male brain is known to noticeably mature around 23 years of age, and Stack will turn 23 in April 2023. If both parties are happy and the price is right, sign him up!
A bit to be said for this. Need to give him the opportunity to mature before cutting him, presuming it doesn't cost too much. Too much talent not to persist.

He can kick 50m goals and is one of our best shots on goal, plus he tackles and applies pressure.
He can play anywhere apart from key positions and ruck imo.

agree stack plays where he's told to play, mid, wing, back, forward or sub, love him he's good enough skill wise just needs to bust his arse

Not up to the running demands of midfield kms?

Our own defender Ryan Garthwaite was able to rack up 16kms and got the ball once or twice. Other defenders Gibcus 15kms the same Broad often racks up big ks without doing much. Brandon Ellis is a great runner as is Kmac ~average footballers.
FFS is it an athletics carnival? or footy? Why did we delist Garth? he and George should never be dropped cos they're fitter than Stack.

Castagna has become a meme for the crowd. They just groan when he kicks for goal. HOPELESS. I had front row seats at the Gold Coast horror show. I watched part of the first VFL game after he was dropped. 2 shots for goal one OOB and the other didn't make the distance. I'd be embarrased if I "performed my sport at the standard Castagna does.

Give me footballers like Cumberland and Mansell and Stacks every day. I doubt Stack'll be with us next year

The irony is that when I was walking past him on the ground last Sunday my thought was "what a fit bastard he is"
