So try him elsewhere in a position he is best suited too, like every other footballer in the side would be afforded. Throw him around just to get him into form. You may well say keep doing the same thing over and over until he gets it right, but look how that has gone. Some players are just not suited to certain positions, especially when one has shown to be very good in their best position.

Stack coming in from jail/bail and not arriving at Richmond until April last year, in far worse shape than this year was played at half back and by the end of the season in the senior side he was our best/2nd best in one game.

Stack is up to the level he has demonstrated that. He is not up to the level as a small forward, he has demonstrated that as well. So off to the scrap pile.
He is not that special where he needs to only play that 1 position and cant be moved
the hbf role is the easiest position to play and we currently have 2 of the best in that role

if he can only play that role then Richmond is not the team for him

I think he is that special. No preseason and he was our best player late last year in a game, you can't do that if you are not special.

He is not that special this year for sure because we have not seen anything near his best played forward. At least try and run him into some form. Nothing. Rinse and repeat.

He is not that special because he doesnt take his fitness seriously and wont be until he does. Simple

Who in our back line is Stack going to kick out of the side? He is competing with Daniel Baker & Vlastuin as the small/mid sized defender and he isn't replacing any of them any time soon. So the option is to try him as small/mid sized forward where he is competing with the likes of Aarts Castagna & Maurice and unfortunately he hasn't been good enough to get in the side ahead of them or keep them out of the side when he had his shot earlier in the year.

It's not just about the senior side, it's about running Stack into form in the VFL then see how he goes forward or wherever you want to put him. He never once in an entire season was able to run into form and play his natural game.

In regard to who he would have replaced, how many games did Hugo play across half back, quite a few until he they found out his defensive side wasn't quite up to scratch. Mansell played a couple. For what it's worth I think Stack is a potentially better player than Baker based on first year form only. Hard to tell if he would have gone near that mark this season we didn't get a look. Stack on his first year showed more than just about anyone I had ever seen and looked just about the complete player, but Covid and his own lack of discipline got in the way. Who knows what would have happened if we didn't persevere with the small forward thing.

Our VFL side is about developing players in the position the coaches feel they can best serve the senior side. Hugo is being developed as a winger long term and plays from HBF to develop his defensive side and give him that understanding of what is required in the role. Mansell has been played as a defender since he arrived but was then given a run up forward to see what he offered in that role and it was quickly identified that he wasn't suited. Stack has been played in the forward/midfield role for the season and they have left him there as they've obviously seen something from Sydney in that role to persist with it. The problem is/continues to be that he doesn't quite do enough to get him more senior opportunities

Because he is not a forward. It's that simple. It's okay to develop other players to their strengths, Hugo and Mansell, but not Stack. A bit contradictor don't you think.

I’m hoping that Stack in this years exist meeting is told in no uncertain terms that he will no longer have a place at the tigers unless he returns fit and ready to play next preseason. Unfortunately poor attitude and a lack of maturity can only be tolerated for so long even for one of the most skilled players on our list

The club obviously think he is a real talent or he would have been given the ass long ago for not bringing the right attitude.

Beg to differ he looks quite good when playing forward, when he is invested in the game from a defensive aspect as it gets him involved in the play more. The problem is that he isn't always interested in doing the defensive side of things, which I've suggested previously as a reason why he struggles to get picked for the seniors, because as we all know defensive pressure inside our F50 is one of our big KPIs for our small forwards. To be able to play the role we want him to play he needs to be ultra fit for those repeat sprints as well as covering ground up to the HBF when we're defending. I've watched plenty of Stack at VFL level and there are times where he still struggles with those repeat efforts.

If I may be so presumptuous, I'll take the hint and bow out gracefully, unlike the rest of my postings.

I seriously and respectfully wish him well on his future endeavours.
Stack will be very much a part of our future. Didn’t get a game today purely because he’s back in WA for a funeral apparently. Dimma rates him and said he’s been playing well at the lower level. I’m happy to hear that as he’s a very very good natural footballer who seems to be maturing.

No hint intended at all mate, I genuinely admire your dedication and hope you keep it up, I'm just blown away by its stats.

If the man in question fulfills his potential it'll be a 1000-pager. :thumbsu:

Dimma confirmed at presser that Stack was unavailable today as he was at a funeral in WA. Sounded like he was a possible IN otherwise.
I’m just happy Dimma waited until the post game presser to tell us, otherwise we wouldn’t of got some of that amazing content and melts over the past few pages
