RICHMOND is hoping to offer talented WA teenager Sydney Stack an AFL lifeline, with the Tigers inviting him to train at Punt Road.

The Tigers submitted a request to the AFL over the weekend and is waiting for League approval.

If given the green light, Stack will arrive at Tigerland on December 1, and can train with Richmond during the pre-season supplemental selection period until March 15.

He could then join Richmond's list under the new rookie rules.

The speedy midfielder was regarded as one of the most talented of WA's draft hopefuls but was overlooked in last week's NAB AFL Draft and Rookie Draft.

Stack missed the first round of the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships following failure to meet training standards, but quickly made up for lost time with an impressive carnival for WA.

His good form earned him selection in the Under-18 All Australian team, as well as a debut for Perth's Colts side in the WAFL in round 19.

AFL.com.au has contacted the League for comment.

Now watch Gilbo step in and say he's off to Norf as a concession.

Reading that it sounds like it's worth giving him a chance.

He wants to move interstate and be in a stable environment. By the sounds of things he actually wants to put the off field issues behind him and concentrate on footy.

Could be a good fit for us if he prove his commitment.

From reports in WA he's a great kid that needs focus
Mostly home issues (alcoholism, and violence in the family), not sure its drug related
If he gets to us and the AFL allow it(forms submitted for permission to do so this weekend), he could be a steal
Rated highest of all WA picks, U18 AA in champs from 3 games

This is what I wanted to see. Something official. Officially excited.

With a player like stack who didnt get drafted for a good reason by 18 clubs there has to be some major issue's
Its been reported that family issue's have gotten in his way from being more dedicated to training and professionalism etc but think there would be a bit more to it than just this.

Peter sumich loves the way this kid plays and i respect his opinion and talent watchers have him in the top 20 players or around that quality in this years draft so he knows how to play and has the skills but just needs to learn to be a pro.

3 months under our noses with the characters at the club we have i think we can make a pretty accurate call on if he is upto it or not
its pretty much a free hit and it just costs us a 1 year rookie salary/spot if he proves he has what it takes

Rioli & Shai will show him the ropes and make him feel at home and transition will be easier and less daunting for the kid
Hope he takes his chance and becomes a player for the Tigers

Agree very much with the above
After the Chris Yarran stuff, its great that the club is going the right way about it

Why didn't you rookie him in the first place. I have a nephew that knew him, speaks highly of his character.
A question best asked of the football departments of the 18 clubs.
I know that they don't have the footy nous of the Big Footy poster but they do make the decisions.
